Friends, Some of you may be wondering why I haven't reacted to either the Palestinian "elections" or to the victory of the Hamas. Well, see, it's like this. What I saw was a bunch of terrorists competing for the vote. If any Palestinian who actually wanted to get rid of terrorism and corruption and feed his family had stood up against the Fatah or the Hamas, he would have been murdered. So, how do I feel about the results? I'm delighted. Had the opposite happened with a clear victory for terror's front man, Abu Mazen wearer of suits, we would have had to contend with additional blah, blah, 'moderates, we condemn the latest suicide bomber until we condemn the one who we'll send after him, and anyhow, you brought it on yourselves. ' With Hamas, even the Jimmy Carters of the world are going to have a problem. That is not to say they won't try to convince us this is also a new chance for "peace" (how I hate that word in its new Orwellian format! It has meant death and hate and destruction ever since Oslo). The former editor of Hadassah Magazine, Jesse Zel Lurie (and, by the way, the first person who ever helped me get my work published, so this pains me) wrote in an article to some Jewish journal down in Miami (he's put me on his mailing list and refuses to take me off, oh well) : "The Palestinian elections were a real triumph for democracy." We are going to hear much of this. Please be forewarned and forearmed. Below, an except from the Hamas Charter, and a link to the entire Charter. Also, those of you who haven't read my book, The Covenant, which talks extensively about the Hamas's despicable history, get a copy and read it. Encourage others to do the same, particularly non-Jews. From HAMAS COVENANT: Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it" (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory Article 13 of the Hamas Charter: "There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors. The Palestinian people know better than to consent to having their future, rights and fate toyed with. As in said in the honorable Hadith: "The people of Syria are Allah's lash in His land. He wreaks His vengeance through them against whomsoever He wishes among His slaves It is unthinkable that those who are double-faced among them should prosper over the faithful. They will certainly die out of grief and desperation." For the full charter, please go to: http://tinyurl.com/mu5f" title="http://tinyurl.com/mu5f" target="_blank"http://tinyurl.com/mu5f Naomi |

Day of the Watchmen: Return of the Nephilim
| Aukina4Israel1 (Original Message) | Sent: 28/01/2006 1:13 PM |
Day Of The Watchmen: Return Of The Nephilim Hollie L. Moody (15 January 2006) (Micah 7:4, Luke 17:26) In a vision, I was standing in a group of people. We were laughing and talking together. I sensed that the Lord was standing next to me. "Child," I heard the Lord say to me, "what are you doing here?" I was surprised by the Lord's question. "I am visiting with my friends," I replied. "This is not what I have called you unto," the Lord said to me. "Why are you not up in the tower where I have called you to be?" I saw that the Lord had turned from the group of people, and was pointing upwards. I looked up to where the Lord was pointing, and saw a very high tower. "Because it's lonely in the tower," I said to the Lord. "Return to where I have stationed you," the Lord commanded me. I slowly began to climb my way back up into the high tower. When I arrived back into the tower, I saw that the entire tower was open on all sides and that I was able to look out easily into all directions. I looked down and saw that the Lord was walking in and out of the crowds of people spread out below me. At intervals, He would stop and speak quietly to certain people. These people would then also separate themselves from the crowds and make their way to where the Lord would point for them to be. I saw that some of the people were positioned on rooftops. Some were positioned on walls that ran around the perimeter of the city. Others were in groups of twos and were walking around the city together. Still others were also up in high towers such as the one I was in. I then sensed the Lord's return next to me. "Why am I here, Lord?" I asked. "To keep watch," the Lord replied. (Habakkuk 2:1-3) So, I watched. For quite some time, I continued to watch. Yet, I saw nothing. I noticed that the Lord was going from watchman to watchman, speaking to them. I saw that some of them had fallen asleep on their watch, and that the Lord appeared quite displeased by this. (Isaiah 56:10) Suddenly, I saw something bright falling from the heavens. When this brightness struck the earth, I saw what appeared to be a mist. From this mist sprang forth spirits, some type of angelic beings. Yet I felt tremendous and immense fear and unease as I viewed these spiritual beings. (Luke 10:18, Revelation 9:1-3, Revelation 16:14, 2 Corinthians 11:14) "What is happening, Lord?" I asked the Lord. "What are these spiritual beings?" "These are the fallen ones," the Lord replied. "This is the return of the Nephilim." I had no idea what these words meant, yet was filled with absolute terror at what the Lord had just said to me. I then saw more spiritual beings descending from the heavens. Yet, even though I was afraid when I saw them, it was not with the same terror I had felt upon seeing those to whom the Lord referred to as the Nephilim. "Who are these beings, Lord?" I asked. "These are the Watchers," the Lord replied. "The Holy Ones." (Daniel 4: 13, 17, Hebrews 1:14) I watched from my place in the tower as the Nephilim entered into what appeared to be laboratories. I saw as the Nephilim stood side by side with what appeared to be doctors and whispered into the ears of the doctors. These doctors were conducting what appeared to be some type of complex experiments. Here in the laboratories, I saw as what appeared to be humans were brought forth. Yet, something about these "humans" disturbed me greatly. "What is transpiring here, Lord?" I asked the Lord. "Who are these people that are being brought forth?" "These are the soul-less ones," the Lord replied. I felt a chill settle upon me at the Lord's words. "From the very beginning of time," the Lord said to me, "Satan has sought to insinuate himself into the bloodline of men. He sought to taint the bloodline through which Messiah would come. Satan did this to prevent the salvation of mankind." (Genesis 3:15, Genesis 6:2, 4) "The world was filled with wickedness and the bloodline became corrupt through the fallen ones," the Lord said to me. "Until only one just and perfect man was left upon the face of the earth. Only his bloodline was free from any taint and blemish of the seed of the fallen ones. It was to be through the bloodline of Noah that My covenant would continue to be established. And it repented Me that I had made man, and it was determined to destroy man and the earth to free it from the taint of the fallen ones." (Genesis 6:9, 17-18, Jude 6) I then saw as the Nephilim aligned themselves with certain people, and merged themselves with these people. I saw as they revealed themselves to these people as angels of light, as spiritual guides. I then heard as these people began to proclaim and speak of new theories and discoveries with which to explain the mysteries of the past, as well as forthcoming discoveries of the future. And their words were greeted and welcomed and believed upon by many. (Galatians 1:8, 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12, 1 Timothy 4:1, 2 Timothy 4:4) "What is the purpose of these things?" I asked the Lord. "This is a last effort waged by the enemy to destroy man's ability to receive salvation," the Lord explained to me. "The soul-less ones do not have the ability to become or to experience salvation; for they have no soul. "Tell My children to watch, child," the Lord said unto me. "Tell them to allow nothing to deceive them." "Who would believe these words, Lord?" I asked the Lord. "Very few," the Lord replied. "The words you speak will sound foolish to many. Yet the warning given to them now will become a seed planted in their heart. These words will be remembered by them when the need arrives. Fear not, child, to speak what I command you to speak." (Acts 18: 9-10) In Him, ~~ Hollie L. Moody |
ART KATZ BIOGRAPHICAL INTERVIEW
Art Katz Biographical Interview
![]()
An interview with Alistair Reese, New Zealand, April 2001 A: Give us your name, family status, occupation and your ethno-nationality. Art: Well, I am a Jewish believer from both parents, married, and I have three children and six grandchildren. I am 72 years of age. Occupation? I write ‘retired’ when I have to fill out the passport or visa applications coming into different countries, but I am a spokesman for the Lord, a mouthpiece, and something of an author. A: What have been some of the key influences that have helped you to form your worldview? Firstly, people. Art: I am hard-pressed to think of any outstanding influence that has come through men. I have been grateful for pastors, ministers, and publishers over the years, but I cannot think of a single formidable personality, someone like an A.W. Tozer; however, I would say the brother from New Zealand in Palmerton North, Ken Wright, is probably one of the singular influences to bring a degree of balance and fatherly warmth to me at a stage when I was yet a bit up in arms and needed to be quieted in a right way. I have always enjoyed my time with him, his counsel with me, and he was a real benevolent influence. I could probably think of others, but it would take some time. A: Okay, then, what about literature? Art: Watchman Nee, A.W. Tozer, Berkhoff, the Dutch theologian, and, principally now in the most recent years, Karl Barth, have all influenced me with their work. I especially love Barth’s books; he has been a great influence. Then, of course, Paul himself has influenced me through his Epistles. I could think of a number of other authors over the years that have been significant, usually theologians who are not well known. I love Charles Spurgeon, of course; Spurgeon’s Treasury of David, his commentary on the Psalms, has been a great blessing for me. I have a German theologian, Hans Joachim Kraus, who is also the author of a commentary that has been a blessing from yet another perspective, not so much inspirational, but more scholarly. Walter Brueggemann, an American theologian of the Old Testament and the Psalms, has been a significant influence. I am thinking of the German Old Testament scholars and the Hebrew scholars like David Baron and Adolf Saphir. Their commentaries on Israel and the Messianic prophecies are excellent. A: So then, moving on to experiences, what would be some of the experiences that have brought you to where you are now and caused you to think the way you think now? Art: I would say that the greatest experience has been that of community for this past quarter of a century, having to go through various ordeals and trials, as I mentioned this morning, coming into meetings that are so compacted and tense that you stop breathing when you enter the room and feel that there is no answer to the predicament, then coming out two or three hours later walking on a cloud, because the Lord has brought some transcendent answer. One of the highlights was a trial of the brother whose flesh was given over to the devil, that his soul might be saved, a three-hour actual judicial hearing that was a transcendent experience; we heard housewives speaking out of such depths of wisdom and compassion, prompted by the significance of what we were about, and performing righteous judgment. I have had a host of experiences through the community that have been very formative in my life, and I am sure that I would be something other than what I presently am if my lifestyle had been modeled more along the lines of those who live privately and comfortably. I would not have appreciated the hardships, difficulties, confrontations, and misunderstandings. In recent years, the Lord has even tempered me in giving me a bit of a father’s heart and a pastoral heart, which I have never had in all the good times and did not think I was required to have, but it has come out of the necessity of living real life. I have also been greatly shaped by experiencing the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I once had a great experience, probably the profoundest in God, in preparing the message on mercy. In Ma Brogger’s trailer up at the farm, the Lord lifted the veil, so much as a crack, and beams of light came forth in such a way that I was found two hours later when she returned with a friend, stretched out on the floor, on my face and unable to move. I was surrounded by wads of soaking kleenexes from my tears, and she went right to the phone to call for an ambulance; I could only gesture that it was not necessary, but I could not speak, I was so overcome by the power and the glory that had issued from this little crack of God’s revelation. Finally, they put me up on a seat, and I tried to explain what had happened. It was now time for me to speak, so they wanted to drive me down to the camp. I said that I could not get into a car, nor could I even ride on my bike. I could not touch anything made by man, and I could not even walk down the regular road to the camp; I said that I had to go the back way, so as to not see anyone before I went up onto the platform. That is how profound an experience that was. The second experience, not as dramatic, was the 10-day fast and 24-hour prayer vigil that we conducted at one point in the community’s history. On the seventh or the eighth day of that fast, I was so spiritually spent and exhausted and wasted that I remember being stretched out on my face, unable even to pray. There was a groan, and something came on me that made me utterly aware of myself and my prostration as a piece of creation before the Creator; I realized how cursory and insufficient a little three-day fast had been when we prayed for a question of need prior to a trip, but a ten-day fast and prayer round the clock (because we were committed this time) brought a whole new dimension of the lowliness of myself, in view of the greatness of the Creator who is worth everything. No fireworks, no fresh baptism in the Holy Spirit, though we needed it, just that consciousness of God and myself and my own mortality and frailty was invaluable. I have never forgotten that experience, and I hope to retain it. A: Art, how would you describe your Christian tradition in terms of the evangelical, charismatic, those sort of terminologies? Art: Hard to pin down. Certainly, I am Spirit-filled, but I have been one of the greatest critics of the Charismatic movement. I have grown up in the Pentecostal movement, so I am a kind of ‘son’ of Pentecost, saved in the Assemblies of God in Jerusalem. I have spoken in many of their schools and churches over the years, though not in recent years, so it would be very hard to compartmentalize me. Of course, I am an evangelical, but I praise God for the latitude and freedom that I have that can fit into context and venues of almost any kind: Egypt, East Germany under Communist rule, Singapore with wealthy congregations. It does not matter, because I am at ease in every place, and I have spoken at many universities in confrontations because of my ex-Marxist background. So, what do we say? Messianic? Is that the name that is now given to Jewish believers? Yet, I am more opposed by Messianic leaders than by any other, because of my differing views on Israel. Shall we then say apostolic and prophetic? Yet, I have had more conflict with men who purport to be apostolic and prophetic than with any other. Therefore, I will just have to leave that question hanging. A: Art, some Christian leaders in New Zealand call you a prophet. Do you accept that terminology? Art: I accept it because it is not something I am free to deny. It is nothing that I would boast in as if it were something that I have fashioned or formed; it is something that has been given, and to deny the givenness is to repudiate or contradict the God who has given it. He has made clear over the years that this is indeed my calling. I acknowledge it, I am grateful for it, but I do not boast in it, and I do not—if it were not for the fact that an issue has now risen, where the issue of authenticity is at stake—I would not refer to it myself. But now we are at a place over the issue of Israel. Whether it has an apocalyptic and violent destiny or can rather progressively improve, is of great moment. If we are sounding a warning of something that is not to come, then we are bringing unnecessary disturbance, but if we are bringing a warning of a calamitous thing that must come and requires an appropriate preparation in the church, then there is no word more significant. So, on what basis do we offer our perspective? If it is only a personal opinion, then it can be as readily rejected. Therefore, when I speak, I say I am not giving an opinion, but I am speaking out of the perspective of the prophetic scriptures in keeping with my call, because I believe that God gives to men who have this office an understanding of prophetic scriptures that is not available to others. This now has become a critical question, whether something is an opinion or issues out of a man’s office and call; otherwise, I would not take the pains to speak of it. However, because of it, I am required now to address the subject of true and false prophets. We have a whole book on our website on the prophetic call and a little 50-page booklet that you have obtained, The Spirit of Prophecy, an extract from that larger work, because I have over a quarter of a century of a history in this calling and am very jealous over the word; if we lose it, we lose everything. The prophet in this circumstance presages the coming of that which is apostolic and even prepares the church to anticipate and recognize it. Therefore, if the prophet himself is disqualified, or if the word loses its cogency, as I believe is happening now in the loose present popularity of the prophetic call, then the game is lost. I am very jealous of the prophetic word, its meaning and its integrity, for it has become an issue of significance in this hour. A: How did you realize, or how did you know, that the nature of your ministry was prophetic as such, as opposed to pastoral, teaching, or whatever? Art: It had to be brought to my attention by others, men like Ern Baxter, who, after I finished bringing three messages on the Patriarchs, followed them by thanking me, expressing that these were prophetic commentaries, and I naively thought, “Is that so?” In the beginning, other men making frequent allusion to the word ‘prophetic’ made me to be aware that they were seeing something that had not, at that time, been brought to my awareness. The first consciousness of this title came from other men acknowledging this in me, but I always knew that I was not a teacher. Except as a prophetic teacher, I have done the work of an evangelist; there is a very clear mode of being, of perceiving and expressing, that is distinctive of the prophetic, which is unquestionably what I am about. A: How would you describe prophetic ministry? Art: Well, there is a whole book on this subject on our website. It took me five days at Youth With A Mission in Lausanne years ago to begin an assessment of what the word ‘apostolic’ meant—and they are very similar. ‘Prophetic’ is expressing God’s own heart and perceiving things as He Himself sees them, a certain mode of being, living, a certain jealousy of an intense kind, a certain concern for His glory, His Name, His honor, a certain seeing through appearances to the reality beneath. Had you been with me Sunday morning, you would have seen this demonstration. I walked into a church, and I was instantly uncomfortable. After I attended their prayer meeting in the side room, where the discomfort was not lessened, I came into the sanctuary and watched the worship team and the pastor performing. When I got up, my first word was, “What would you think if out of your very congregation, some young man or adolescent went berserk and shot up his high school and his teachers?” I said, “You’re in an environment conducive to that conduct in your unreality. You’re forming the nexus out of which that kind of aberration can take place,” and I did not lighten up or let up. I went right on through, breaking down the facade and its appearances, confronting them with the truth of their conditions, and the pastor, after I finished, had the temerity to come up and take the microphone and continue in the same droll, mealy-mouthed way that I had identified before as being false. I could not believe it, and I could not bear it; I got up and had to tell him, “You have said enough, much too much.” In fact, if he had continued, then I really would have caused a scene. As it happened, we had lunch with this pastor and another family—the brother who hosted the lunch is here now—and when we had lunch together, I said, “You need to go before the congregation tonight and apologize for continuing in the same mode that God had exposed as being false and ask their forgiveness for seeking to go back to ‘business as usual’ after this corrective word from God.” But I do not believe that he did it. In this confrontation, you have a small picture of what it means to be prophetic: fearless, uncompromising, no concern for how one will be regarded in terms of reputation, no question of the jealousy of God for reality to address the thing that is quickened, where there is no other thought or message that can be considered but that thing that is pulsating in your heart because of your identification and union with God. It does not always take that form, but frequently it will. So that is prophetic, to speak for God out of the sense of God Himself, without concern for what the effect will be, whether it has been received or rejected, or how you personally will be received. In fact, I thought to myself, “Surely, if ever I qualified for being stoned, it’s now.” I was bringing down the whole house, the whole thing that had had too long a history of deceit and religious hypocrisy. They either had to stone me or fall before the Lord as being the word of truth. I think many in the congregation did, but the pastor himself was so rooted in that system that he continued to babble and had to be reprimanded. A: I think there is a sense where you have answered this question already by that example, but I wonder—you might be able to further clarify—how would you describe the nature of your prophetic activity? Art: It is an attempt to restore lost foundations, to bring the breadth of God’s ultimate purpose, particularly as it pertains to Israel in the Last Days, to underline the significance of that understanding for the church, and what it requires sacrificially of the church to fulfill. Yesterday, I used words like ‘cosmic, primordial, eschatological, and apocalyptic.’ I am attempting a breadth of understanding that the church has lacked and for which reason it is one-dimensional, shallow, and vacuous today. That is the prophetic seeing. It is rooted in Deuteronomy. My Holocaust book, understanding the Nazi Holocaust, has been a statement of God’s judgment, promised in Deuteronomy. All of the prophets were Deuteronomic in their understanding of blessing or curse and understanding of divine causation of sin and consequence. To bring that view of God, particularly in judgment, to a church that has not been disposed to see it, is one of my continuing burdens. Yesterday, I used the German word, weltanschauung for worldview, a cosmic perception of the faith, which, once understood, can help the church to see itself in that larger context; otherwise, it is doomed to a mere succession of Sunday services and programs. It needs to have this overview, the arching overview of God, and see it in its context and its great history, even in its primordial pre-history. There is a great theme of the salvation of God written into His whole enterprise that needs to be understood; otherwise, we reduce salvation itself to a mere formula—step one, step two. I am called and formed to breathe out this breadth of understanding, by which the church can identify itself and take up its task and calling to appropriate and to serve out of the prolific endless and indestructible life of God Himself. It is the call of the church to resurrection reality. When it sees the mandate and magnitude of its call, that it cannot be fulfilled on the basis of its own religious well-meaning intention, it will be brought into the glory of God’s own Life. Because I not only describe that call but speak it out, this thing from that Life, they hear not only the proclamation, but they see the demonstration in the very word that comes to them! So the prophet is called not only to proclaim, but also to demonstrate in himself, to be the thing in himself, to which the church is called in its own prophetic stature and identification. When I spoke at a Revival School on the subject of Israel, it was like a door, like a furnace door bursting open and an apocalyptic view of things gushing out on these young people. When I finished, the director of the school tried to smooth it over because it upset some of their categories. He even put revival in a lesser place in the keeping with the greater purposes of God, of which revival is only a means, not the end in itself. However, the students came up on the platform when everything was dismissed and were touching me like, “Aahhh, where did this guy come from? What is it? We have heard of the prophetic, but this is the thing in itself. We have heard, we have seen with our own eyes, we have touched with our own hands, this remarkable reality.” A: Art, what do you think is at work in that kind of a presentation? What is happening? Art: It is the very Life of God, the indestructible Life, not only as an energy, but also as a content and as a character. I used the word ‘Davidic’ yesterday. The church is called to a Davidic kingdom; it is not just a governmental scheme, but also that which has a character in keeping with God Himself! The Life conveys the wisdom of God, the energy, the dynamic, but also the Spirit, the form and the essence of what He is in Himself, for the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus. What we are setting forth is the Lord Himself; therefore, the way in which men regard us or treat us is invariably and often their statement toward Him. Their rejection of us is their rejection of Him. It is never a question of self-pity if I am rejected, but I feel sorry for those who do not realize what their rejection of the prophetic man constitutes with regard to Him, seeing that the spirit of prophecy is His own testimony. It is an awesome calling, and I am grateful beyond words that this is my privilege by the sovereignty and ordination of God. I am a privileged man. A: Can you describe the main area of your prophetic concern? Art: The issue of Israel is my concern, and it is ironic that the thing that most contends against my apocalyptic view is the present sentimental, humanistic, and idealistic, if not romantic, affinity of Christians, usually Charismatic, for Israel. This militates against the glory that God intends for a redeemed Israel, which, in my opinion, may require the sinking and extinction of this present political entity. That is my jealousy—to bring, to convey, a view of the meaning of Israel in dimensions that the church has not yet begun to suspect. The church much prefers a sentimental relationship, because it requires less of them. To be participant in the restoration of Israel after a humiliating defeat and exile, being expelled into nations, and sifted through nations, makes of the church God’s salvific agent. In order to perform that, the church itself must come into a greater and ultimate stature. I would say that is the brunt of what I am about and what occupies me: bringing this view to the church. It is remarkable what it will require. Being in the Philippines, a third world country, I saw poverty-stricken men wanting so much to succeed as pastors as a means of escaping poverty. I brought to them a view of what all of this means for the church and for the ministers that completely controverts that ministerial model; I watched men forsake this model at the loss of their own hope for success, as only Israel, rightly depicted and conveyed, has the power to do. The issue of Israel, in the last analysis, is the issue of the Kingdom. We cannot understand Israel except in the theocratic context, in which its restoration means the “word [going] forth out of Zion” (Isa. 2:3). The actual rule of God over the nations waits for this, the nexus of a restored Israel. That is why Israel will be so bitterly opposed, even unto annihilation, by the powers of darkness. In the absence of this theocratic view, every kind of petty kingdom has flourished in the religious world; denominations, movements, individual ministries are petty kingdoms, for the want of the knowledge of the great Kingdom, inexorably connected with the issue of Israel’s restoration. You cannot appropriate and understand and seek the Kingdom of God independent of Israel’s restoration. When the disciples of Jesus said to Him, at the end of His 40 days of resurrection instruction on the Kingdom of God, “Is it time now to restore the Kingdom of Israel?” (Acts 1:6), they were not rebuked for that question, because it was totally scriptural and valid. It is the Kingdom of Israel, it is the Davidic Kingdom, and it must issue from the throne of David, from the holy hill of Zion. To say that is not to confine it to Israel. It goes out from Israel to all nations. Therefore, this is my principal burden: to communicate the dimensions of what Israel means for the Church in the context of this theocratic rule. A: This morning, when you were talking, you talked about the office of a prophet. Does that mean that everything you do is prophetic, or do you have a sense that sometimes you are prophetic and sometimes you are not? Art: I am not sure that you can take off the garment. If the prophetic man is the thing in himself, then it is not just something that he puts on ministerially. It has got to be consistent with the totality of his life. His marriage is a factor; the character of that marriage, its failure, humiliation, is the very design of God in shaping the man, so you cannot separate his life from his function. All of it is designed to attain or obtain the prophetic reality. I think I am always in that mode; I am always thinking, and my thoughts are being always attuned. Therefore, I see significance in little things and have a tendency to interpret all things in this contextual light of God’s significance in the totality of His sovereignty that cannot be compartmentalized, where you distinguish ministry from life. The ministry issues from the life. It is a total thing. A: How would you relate that to, or compare that to, the general people of God being a prophetic people and their understanding of what it means to be a prophetic people, as opposed to the office of prophet? Art: I think that the office models for the church something of their call as the church. The church that is not prophetic is, ipso facto, not the church; it ought to function to the nation in a way that is relative to the way in which the prophet functions to the church, interpreting for the nation the significance of current events or future things in the context of history and of the whole breadth of the prophetic word of God. The church that is prophetic ought to be doing that for its nation. I gave the example yesterday of the Japanese minister who leaped to his feet in a minister’s conference in Osaka when I suggested, or more than suggested, that the atom bombs that fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not mere political military decisions, but the judgment of God for a nation that has historically kept Him at arm’s length. The nation needs to see this catastrophe not as some arbitrary thing issuing from men, but from God, intended for their redemptive repentance. This man leaped up and cried out, “Lord, make me a prophet for my nation!” I believe that the church in the nations ought to serve that function to interpret for the nation that meaning of its own events. I mentioned yesterday that the funeral of Princess Diana was a scandal of failure for the church in the world, and especially in England, for not interpreting it for what in fact it represents and allowing it to go in some unquestioned premise as being a ‘Christian’ funeral. She was a debutante and a jetsetter, immoral, and humanistic, who even received an occultist’s consultation; yet, she obtained all the trappings of Christian burial at the highest levels of the Anglican church, with their clerics of the greatest order, intoning with great solemnity, as if this were in fact the burial of a Christian! The church should not have stood still. It was a silence that needed to be broken. That does not mean that we are going to be successful or even heard, but to be silent in the face of some direct contradiction of the faith, to diminish God by it, calls for a statement. Our failure to make it condemns us and lessens us even in our ability to discern the next time when such response should be called for, until we are so habituated to the world that we do not even look up. I have never recovered from the silence of the church of England and felt required myself to write a statement on the prophetic significance of Princess Diana’s funeral—it is on my website. It has not caused a beep anywhere, so it may be without any consequence, but I could not be silent. The church should not be silent; it needs solemnly to address society on those things that contradict God and His image and purpose in man. If that is defamed and despoiled, then we cannot remain silent, and I have counseled even East German Christian leaders of their obligation before Communist authorities to oppose propaganda campaigns that have resulted in widespread opposition, because men cannot live with the lie. Even if it meant they were going to prison, without any hope of succeeding, they could not afford to be silent. That is the prophetic church. A: Art, how do you know that what you are doing and what you are saying is authentic in the biblical sense of the word? Art: Well, I think your question answers itself. When I present my perspectives, I say, “I’m not giving you something I’ve received by a light going on, or a dream, or a vision, or some revelatory experience. What I’m giving you is a knowledge or insight from Scripture of accumulative kind that is revelatory but founded in the Word. It’s not some extra-biblical view of a kind that seeks your attention. This is rooted in the Word and therefore can be tested in the Word. You can fault me of anything that I’m saying if it is contradicted by what is itself in the testimony of the Scripture.” Also, I am living in a community where I am not functioning as the prophet, but I am a brother who is subject to criticism of other brothers, to their correction, that would keep me in the straight and the narrow way. |

DEATH TOLL RISES AS EUROPE SHIVERS IN BIG FREEZE

Train tracks cracked in Vienna, German authorities shut a canal to ships after it iced up, and a zoo moved its penguins indoors as a deadly deep freeze tightened its Arctic grip on much of Europe.
The cold wave, which has been blamed for more than 50 deaths in Russia, claimed at least 13 lives over the past five days in Moldova, where authorities said another 30 people, many homeless, were in hospital with hypothermia.
In Ukraine, the Health Ministry said yesterday that 53 people had died during the past 24 hours due to the cold, bringing to at least 130 the number of deaths since temperatures plunged last week.
Poland reported 11 deaths, raising the number of fatalities from the cold to 38 since Friday. Police were patrolling streets to round up the homeless or inebriated and bring them indoors, as temperatures plunged to minus 25 degrees in Warsaw and minus 35 elsewhere.
Romanian authorities reported 15 deaths in the past few days, five of them homeless people, after temperatures dropped as low as minus 30 in parts of the country. In Austria, the mercury reached an all-time low of minus 31 degrees in the town of Gross.
Vienna's subway operator said the morning rush-hour service had been interrupted in some areas because the severe cold, which reached minus 18 degrees, caused small tears in welds on the track.
In southern Germany, officials closed the Rhine-Main-Danube canal to shipping for the first time in five years. Thick sheets of ice stretching about 80 kilometres posed a danger to ships' propellers and the canal's lock systems.
An icebreaker had to help six ships in the canal, which links waterway systems between the North Sea and the Black Sea, reach their destinations.
At Dresden Zoo, 21 Humboldt penguins were moved from their minus 21 degree outdoor environment and into a building where the temperature was a more comfortable zero to ensure their feet did not freeze. In Moscow, which has been held in an icy grip for the past 10 days, trolley buses and trams returned to full operation but record electricity consumption continued to strain the system. The city's death toll is at least 28.
■ Last year was the warmest in a century, nosing out 1998, a US federal analysis says. Researchers calculated that 2005 produced the highest annual average surface temperature worldwide since instrument recordings began in the late 1800s.

ISRAEL & MARRIAGE
| Sent: 19/01/2006 6:07 AM |
The institution of marriage is under attack as never before, especially here in Canada where the Ontario courts have condoned gay marriages. However this event I believe is just another symptom of the problem, one among many others. Like the exploding divorce rate among believers in Yeshua, the dramatic increase in women pastors and spiritual leaders (the Jezebel spirit), and the sickening passiveness of men (the Ahab spirit). By the way, the Jezebel spirit cannot exist without the Ahab spirit, they need and feed off each other. Satan desires to destabilize the institution of marriage. Not only because he wants to start a social revolution, but because he wants to attack the relationship of Mashiach (Messiah) Yeshua with His kahilah (assembly of believers). Marriage is more then just a man and a woman falling in love and desiring to live together. It is a microcosm of the relationship between Yeshua and His kahilah. Therefore just as Yeshua is the head of His kahilah, men are to be the heads of their households. We are seeing more marriage related problems in congregations than ever before, why? Because most men do not know how to be loving husbands. Efesim / Ephesians {5:25} Husbands, love your wives, even as Mashiach also loved the kahilah, and gave Himself for it; {5:22}: Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the L-rd. Men, do you know what this means? If you have answered that it means lording it over your wife or always insisting on having your way because you’re the boss, then you are a classic example of what I am writing about. Men are supposed to be the spiritual head of their household not the tyrant of them! If you are not the spiritual head of your household then you are not the head of your household no matter how macho you are! Kefa Alef / 1 Peter {3:7} Likewise, you husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs togetherof the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. & nbsp; “…. husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge,…” What knowledge is this passage speaking about? Knowledge of the Word of G-d and what it teaches about marriage! You need to know from the Bible, how G-d wants you to be a husband. Now I am not going to quote any particular verse on this subject, because then I would be doing your homework for you. Husband, if you expect your wife to consider you the head of your household then you need to be studying G-d’s Word to learn what it means to be the head. There is scripture after scripture, example after example all the way from Beresheet (Genesis) through Hitgalut (Revelation) teaching you how to be a good husband. However you cannot lead by the Word if you do not know what it says. Would you buy a car without having knowledge about the make of the car you are interested in? Of course not, you would be a fool if you did! The same scenario applies to your marriage. If you do not have the knowledge available to you through the Word of G-d, knowledge that will make you the spiritual head of your household, then you are either just a bully or an Ahab. “…giving honour unto the wife,…” What has happened to chivalry? Rarely do you see a man opening the car door for his wife or holding a door open for her, or waiting for her to sit down and eat before he starts eating. These in my opinion are the most basic ways of honouring your wife. Men if you can not treat your wife or any woman with respect and honour her in these simple areas, then you will not respect or honour her in the ways that really count. So if you want to learn how to honour your wife, start here and the rest will follow. “…as unto the weaker vessel,…” Some men I know are going to say, “You do not know my wife she is anything but a weaker vessel!” I may not know your wife but I do know that if you, as the man of the house, would accept and do your responsibilities then maybe your wife would not have to be so controlling. If you abdicate your leadership roll then do not blame her for sitting on the throne! Your wife is the weaker vessel and you need to honour that by being the man in the home. Not only by doing the things a man is supposed to do but also by helping her do the things she does. Then you will earn her respect and she will act like the weaker vessel G-d created her to be. “…and as being heirs together of the grace of life;…” What is the grace of life? Salvation, as well as all the other grace gifts G-d has available for us! When it comes to grace gifts, G-d considers men and women totally equal. Therefore a way of honouring your wife is by respecting her salvation and the gift or gifts that G-d has given her. “…that your prayers be not hindered…” Men I am sure each one of you are praying for something. Perhaps a better job, or a job, a better car, better finances, healing for yourself or someone else, salvation for a child, family member or friend and the list goes on. Well if you have fallen short in the spiritual knowledge and honour departments, then do not expect to have an effective prayer life; in fact do not anticipate for your prayers being answered! So how do you rate when evaluating yourself according to this Scripture? Do as I did, ask your wife! |

THE STORY OF HEBRON WOMEN
Video clip of Tzippy Shlissel's arrest: www.hebron.com/news/tzippyarrest.htm
- Hebron Update: The travesty of justice
The story of Hebron women
Hebron has been relatively quiet today. The police, although still present, have lowered their visibility profile and are not, at present, marching through the Avraham Avinu neighborhood en masse, as they had been doing all week. However, yesterday several people were brutally arrested, including Mrs. Tzippy Shlissel, mother of 10, daughter of Rabbi Shlomo Ra'anan, murdered in Hebron over 7 years ago.
According to eyewitnesses, Tzippy Shlissel was standing outside her home in the Mitzpe Shalhevet neighborhood (scheduled to be destroyed before the 15th of February, reciting Psalms for the sake of Hebron. (An important Rabbi has instructed to repeat Psalm 109 nine times daily.) Seeing someone she knew come into the neighborhood, she stopped and walked over to say hello. At this point, four policemen ran over to her, jumped on her and threw her to the ground, where they continued to hit her. A police jeep drove over to where she was lying on the ground, and the policemen picked her up and threw her inside, on top of another policeman, sitting there. They then slammed the door closed on her leg and sped away. Mrs. Shlissel was taken to the police station, where she was interrogated about 'crimes' committed two weeks earlier, when massive forces arrived in the neighbor to issued expulsion orders to residents of the Mitzpe Shalhevet neighborhood. According to Tzippy, they blame her for 'everything in the book,' which she, of course, denied. After a couple of hours she was released and allowed to go home.A second Hebron woman has been less fortunate.
On Wednesday morning, Mrs. Deli Landau, mother of 11, drove from Hebron to Kiryat Arba with a number of children in her car. At the entrance to Kiryat Arba a policeman stopped the car and asked her if she was from Hebron. When she replied positively, he demanded to see her identification card. She responded, 'if you only demand IDs from people in Hebron, your purposes are political' and continued driving into the community. A couple of minutes later a police van, following her, called on her to stop and park. Police then started yelling at her that she had tried to run down a police officer, a charge which she vehemently denied. The policeman, looking into her car, demanded that two of her older children, Yedidya, 18 and Ditza, 17, identify themselves. When they refused, they were arrested. Deli was then taken to the Kiryat Arba police station and interrogated, charged with: attacking a police officer (reduced from the initial charge of attempting to run him over), for trying to pour water on police issuing expulsion orders two weeks earlier, and for rioting. The police then officially arrested her and sent her, together with her year and a half old infant son Yehuda Tzvi (who is sick with spastic bronchitis) to the Neve Tirza women's prison, where she spent the night. The police conveniently forgot to provide her with food, both for her and for her baby, all day.The next day Deli was taken to court, where the prosecutor, claiming that she is 'dangerous' and 'a threat' be held in prison until the conclusion of all proceedings against her. At the last minute the judge agreed to allow her to remain under house arrest at her parent's home in Jerusalem until Tuesday, when a final decision will be issued as to whether she will be remanded in prison.
It should be noted that Deli Landau, Hebron resident for 21 years, hasn't any criminal record, and is a profession medic who travels with almost all Hebron women by ambulance to <st1:place Jerusalem when they are in labor before they give birth.
The story of two 16 year old boys
Thursday Jan. 12: The two are brutally arrested in Hebron AA – (an expellee from Gusk Katif) is kicked in his face and between his legs and gas is sprayed into his face. A second boy, AR was hit all over his body, especially punched in the stomach.
Thurs. night-Friday morning: The police deny that the 2 are in jail, replying negatively to lawyers from the Honenu organization.
Friday, Jan. 13: The police tardily notify that a hearing will take place in the Jerusalem Shalom court. Their demand: that they be held until conclusion of all proceedings against them. Decision: To remand them in prison until Sunday
Sunday, January 15: The two are indicted for "rioting," for "a serious attempt to injure a policeman and soldiers" (by throwing eggs at them) and for illegal carrying of a knife. (They had no knife, rather a screwdriver.) Decision: to delay a decision for a day.
Monday, Jan. 16: Decision: They are forbidden to be in all of Judea and Samaria for A YEAR, excepting one boy's home and the yeshiva where they study and a deposit of 5,000 shekels cash, another 5,000 shekels personal bond and 5,000 shekels bond from their parents (for each boy). The prosecutor demands a delay in the boy's release in order to appeal. The demand is accepted and the boys remain in jail.
Tuesday, Jan 17: Hearing at regional appeals court. The judge requests that a representative of the boy's yeshivas appear the next day. They remain in jail.
Wednesday, Jan. 18: The hearing is delayed until Thursday
Thursday, Jan. 19: Hearing in presence of the boy's parents and yeshiva deans. The judge 'has to get her car out of the garage' so a decision is postponed until Friday.
Friday, January 20: Decision: The bond is raised: 25,000 shekels from the parents and 25,000 shekels from the yeshiva deans. Also, traveling between the yeshiva and the boy's home only when accompanied by the parents, for a year. The prosecutor demands that the boys not be released until he decides whether or not to appeal. The demand is granted. The boys are sent back to jail for another 24 hours, until a decision is made
Note: The boys involved have no criminal record, their guilt hasn't been proven – they are still only 'suspects!
AN ABSOLUTELY MUST READ
I had no idea who Dr.Vernon Chong is or the source of these thoughts... so when I received them, I almost deleted them - as well-written as they are. But then I did a "Google search" on the Doctor and found him to be a retired Air Force Surgeon of all things and past Commander of Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. So he is real, is connected to Veterans affairs in California, and these are his thoughts. They are worth reading and thinking about!(the same Google search will direct you to some of his other thought-provoking writings.)
If you would like information on Dr. Vernon Chong, go to Google and type in his name. All of the following is something that everyone should read.
This WAR is for REAL!
To get out of a difficulty, one usually must go through it. Our country is now facing the most serious threat to its existence, as we know it, that we have faced in your lifetime and mine (which includes WWII).
The deadly seriousness is greatly compounded by the fact that there are very few of us who think we can possibly lose this war and even fewer who realize what losing really means.
First, let's examine a few basics:
1. When did the threat to us start?
Many will say September 11, 2001. The answer as far as the United States is concerned is 1979, 22 years prior to September 2001, with the following attacks on us:
* Iran Embassy Hostages, 1979;
* Beirut, Lebanon Embassy 1983;
* Beirut, Lebanon Marine Barracks 1983;
* Lockerbie, Scotland Pan-Am flight to New York 1988;
* First New York World Trade Center attack 1993;
* Dhahran, Saudi Arabia Khobar Towers Military complex 1996;
* Nairobi, Kenya US Embassy 1998;
* Dares Salaam, Tanzania US Embassy 1998;
* Aden, Yemen USS Cole 2000;
* New York World Trade Center 2001;
* Pentagon 2001.
(Note that during the period from 1981 to 2001 there were 7,581 terrorist attacks worldwide).
2. Why were we attacked?
Envy of our position, our success, and our freedoms. The attacks happened during the administrations of Presidents Carter, Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton and Bush 2. We cannot fault either the Republicans or Democrats as there were no provocations by any of the presidents or their immediate predecessors, Presidents Ford or Carter.
3. Who were the attackers?
In each case, the attacks on the US were carried out by Muslims.
4. What is the Muslim population of the World? 25%.
5. Isn't the Muslim Religion peaceful?
Hopefully, but that is really not material. There is no doubt that the predominately Christian population of Germany was peaceful, but under the dictatorial leadership of Hitler (who was also Christian), that made no difference. You either went along with the administration or you were eliminated. There were 5 to 6 million Christians killed by the Nazis for political reasons (including 7,000 Polish priests). (see
http://www.nazis.testimony.co.uk/7-a.htm" title="http://www.nazis.testimony.co.uk/7-a.htm" target="_blank"http://www.nazis.testimony.co... )
Thus, almost the same number of Christians were killed by the Nazis, as the six million holocaust Jews who were killed by them, and we seldom heard of anything other than the Jewish atrocities. Although Hitler kept the world focused on the Jews, he had no hesitancy about killing anyone who got in his way of exterminating the Jews or of taking over the world - German, Christian or any others.
Same with the Muslim terrorists. They focus the world on the US, but kill all in the way -- their own people or the Spanish, French or anyone else. The point here is that just like the peaceful Germans were of no protection to anyone from the Nazis, no matter how many peaceful Muslims there may be, they are no protection for us from the terrorist Muslim leaders and what they are fanatically bent on doing -- by their own pronouncements -- killing all of us "infidels." I don't blame the peaceful Muslims. What would you do if the choice was shut up or die?
6. So who are we at war with?
There is no way we can honestly respond that it is anyone other than the Muslim terrorists. Trying to be politically correct and avoid verbalizing this conclusion can well be fatal. There is no way to win if you don't clearly recognize and articulate who you are fighting.
So with that background, now to the two major questions:
1. Can we lose this war?
2. What does losing really mean?
If we are to win, we must clearly answer these two pivotal questions.
We can definitely lose this war, and as anomalous as it may sound, the major reason we can lose is that so many of us simply do not fathom the answer to the second question - What does losing mean?
It would appear that a great many of us think that losing the war means hanging our heads, bringing the troops home and going on about our business, like post Vietnam. This is as far from the truth as one can get. What losing really means is:
We would no longer be the premier country in the world. The attacks will not subside, but rather will steadily increase. Remember, they want us dead, not just quiet. If they had just wanted us quiet, they would not have produced an increasing series of attacks against us, over the past 18 years. The plan was clearly, for terrorist to attack us, until we were neutered and submissive to them.
We would of course have no future support from other nations, for fear of reprisals and for the reason that they would see, we are impotent and cannot help them.
They will pick off the other non-Muslim nations, one at a time. It will be increasingly easier for them. They already hold Spain hostage. It doesn't matter whether it was right or wrong for Spain to withdraw its troops from Iraq. Spain did it because the Muslim terrorists bombed their train and told them to withdraw the troops. Anything else they want Spain to do will be done. Spain is finished.
The next will probably be France. Our one hope on France is that they might see the light and realize that if we don't win, they are finished too, in that they can't resist the Muslim terrorists without us. However, it may already be too late for France. France is already 20% Muslim and fading fast!
If we lose the war, our production, income, exports and way of life will all vanish as we know it. After losing, who would trade or deal with us, if they were threatened by the Muslims.
If we can't stop the Muslims, how could anyone else?
The Muslims fully know what is riding on this war, and therefore are completely committed to winning, at any cost. We better know it too and be likewise committed to winning at any cost.
Why do I go on at such lengths about the results of losing? Simple. Until we recognize the costs of losing, we cannot unite and really put 100% of our thoughts and efforts into winning. And it is going to take that 100% effort to win.
So, how can we lose the war?
Again, the answer is simple. We can lose the war by "imploding." That is, defeating ourselves by refusing to recognize the enemy and their purpose, and really digging in and lending full support to the war effort. If we are united, there is no way that we can lose. If we continue to be divided, there is no way that we can win!
Let me give you a few examples of how we simply don't comprehend the life and death seriousness of this situation.
President Bush selects Norman Mineta as Secretary of Transportation. Although all of the terrorist attacks were committed by Muslim men between 17 and 40 years of age, Secretary Mineta refuses to allow profiling. Does that sound like we are taking this thing seriously? This is war! For the duration, we are going to have to give up some of the civil rights we have become accustomed to. We had better be prepared to lose some of our civil rights temporarily or we will most certainly lose all of them permanently.
And don't worry that it is a slippery slope. We gave up plenty of civil rights during WWII, and immediately restored them after the victory and in fact added many more since then.
Do I blame President Bush or President Clinton before him?
No, I blame us for blithely assuming we can maintain all of our Political Correctness, and all of our civil rights during this conflict and have a clean, lawful, honorable war. None of those words apply to war. Get them out of your head.
Some have gone so far in their criticism of the war and/or the Administration that it almost seems they would literally like to see us lose. I hasten to add that this isn't because they are disloyal. It is because they just don't recognize what losing means. Nevertheless, that conduct gives the impression to the enemy that we are divided and weakening. It concerns our friends, and it does great damage to our cause.
Of more recent vintage, the uproar fueled by the politicians and media regarding the treatment of some prisoners of war, perhaps exemplifies best what I am saying. We have recently had an issue, involving the treatment of a few Muslim prisoners of war, by a small group of our military police. These are the type prisoners who just a few months ago were throwing their own people off buildings, cutting off their hands, cutting out their tongues and otherwise murdering their own people just for disagreeing with Saddam Hussein.
And just a few years ago these same type prisoners chemically killed 400,000 of their own people for the same reason. They are also the same type enemy fighters, who recently were burning Americans, and dragging their charred corpses through the streets of Iraq.
And still more recently, the same type enemy that was and is providing videos to all news sources internationally, of the beheading of American prisoners they held.
Compare this with some of our press and politicians, who for several days have thought and talked about nothing else but the "humiliating" of some Muslim prisoners -- not burning them, not dragging their charred corpses through the streets, not beheading them, but "humiliating" them.
Can this be for real?
The politicians and pundits have even talked of impeachment of the Secretary of Defense. If this doesn't show the complete lack of comprehension and understanding of the seriousness of the enemy we are fighting, the life and death struggle we are in and the disastrous results of losing this war, nothing can.
To bring our country to a virtual political standstill over this prisoner issue makes us look like Nero playing his fiddle as Rome burned -- totally oblivious to what is going on in the real world. Neither we, nor any other country, can survive this internal strife. Again I say, this does not mean that some of our politicians or media people are disloyal. It simply means that they are absolutely oblivious to the magnitude, of the situation we are in and into which the Muslim terrorists have been pushing us, for many years.
Remember, the Muslim terrorists stated goal is to kill all infidels! That translates into ALL non-Muslims -- not just in the United States, but throughout the world.
We are the last bastion of defense.
We have been criticized for many years as being 'arrogant.' That charge is valid in at least one respect. We are arrogant in that we believe that we are so good, powerful and smart, that we can win the hearts and minds of all those who attack us, and that with both hands tied behind our back, we can defeat anything bad in the world!
We can't!
If we don't recognize this, our nation as we know it will not survive, and no other free country in the world will survive if we are defeated.
And finally, name any Muslim countries throughout the world that allow freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, equal rights for anyone -- let alone everyone, equal status or any status for women, or that have been productive in one single way that contributes to the good of the world.
This has been a long way of saying that we must be united on this war or we will be equated in the history books to the self-inflicted fall of the Roman Empire. If, that is, the Muslim leaders will allow history books to be written or read.
If we don't win this war right now, keep a close eye on how the Muslims take over France in the next 5 years or less. They will continue to increase the Muslim population of France and continue to encroach little by little, on the established French traditions. The French will be fighting among themselves, over what should or should not be done, which will continue to weaken them and keep them from any united resolve. Doesn't that sound eerily familiar?
Democracies don't have their freedoms taken away from them by some external military force. Instead, they give their freedoms away, politically correct piece by politically correct piece.
And they are giving those freedoms away to those who have shown, worldwide, that they abhor freedom and will not apply it to you or even to themselves, once they are in power.
They have universally shown that when they have taken over, they then start brutally killing each other over who will be the few who control the masses. Will we ever stop hearing from the politically correct, about the "peaceful Muslims"?
I close on a hopeful note, by repeating what I said above. If we are united, there is no way that we can lose. I hope now after the election, the factions in our country will begin to focus on the critical situation we are in, and will unite to save our country. It is your future we are talking about! Do whatever you can to preserve it.
After reading the above, we all must do this not only for ourselves, but our children, our grandchildren, our country and the world.
Whether Democrat or Republican, conservative or liberal and that includes the Politicians and media of our country and the free world!
Please forward this to any you feel may want, or NEED to read it. Our "leaders" in Congress ought to read it, too.
There are those that find fault with our country, but it is obvious to anyone who truly thinks through this, that we must UNITE!
A CLOSER LOOK
Life Support in MassachusettsWhere do we draw the line? In the Terry Schiavo case, disability rights activist were essentially told by columnists across the country to mind their own business. We were told that Ms. Schiavo was a "vegetable" -- that calling her "a person with a disability" was an affectation, ridiculous. Nobody was suggesting offing real disabled people, they insisted. Her nearest and dearest was supposedly carrying out her wishes when he stopped the flow of food and water to her. One would have thought from reading these editorials that there was a widespread consensus against withholding care based on disability Haleigh Poutre is an 11-year-old western Massachusetts girl, beaten into a coma last fall by her adoptive stepfather. The MA Department of Social Services, which had ignored previous reports of abuse of Haleigh, assumed custody of the girl -- and within three weeks of her injury rushed into court asking for the power not only to remove her respirator but to stop "nutrition and hydration" -- in short, remove her feeding tube. "Haleigh Poutre, 11, clings to life in a hospital bed, her body sustained by breathing machines and feeding tubes," reported The Boston Globe's Patricia Wen on Nov. 6. "The state, which now has legal custody of the child, wants to terminate her life support, citing medical tests that show she will never recover." DSS said they were asking permission to remove said feeding tube on the advice of doctors, DSS officials not being doctors themselves. They cited her "right to die with dignity."
The state Department of Social Services, which took custody of Haleigh two months ago, is asking the courts to terminate her life-support systems, basing its appeal on doctors' opinions that she will not recover from her vegetative state. "...
Diane Coleman of Not Dead Yet has a phrase for what DSS was asking for. They were asking for carte blanche. DSS had "also considered the desire of some of the girl's relatives, including Haleigh's maternal grandmother, Sandi Sudyka, and her biological mother, Allison Avrett, that she be allowed to die," Wen reported. '''Let's put her to rest," Sudyka said. ''I don't want her to live that way.'" State social service officials declined to confirm how they want to terminate Haleigh's life support -- by removing her feeding tubes, turning off her ventilator, or both.
The process got slowed down a bit when Haleigh's abuser sought to stop DSS's action. The Massachusetts Supreme Court properly ruled that he should have no rights over Haleigh. However, the court then gave DSS the right to remove "life support" -- including her feeding tube. Again, to coin a phrase, the gave the state agency carte blanche. On Jan. 17, the state's Supreme Judicial Court ruled that "life-support systems" could be removed,
saying that the child, who has been in a vegetative state since an alleged beating by her adoptive mother and stepfather, should be able to ''pass away with dignity." ...
Now we learn that, just prior to the court ruling, Haleigh started to improve and was breathing on her own. One would think that a state agency in Massachusetts, the cradle of democracy, would want the court to have every possible scrap of information in order to that the court could do its best for Haleigh. Maybe not. Haleigh's biological mother had visited the girl the week before the court ruling, The Globe reported, and "observed Haleigh's hand moving, which gave her new hope that Haleigh's condition might have changed. But Avrett said she was later convinced by DSS officials and doctors that those movements were involuntary and not signs of revived brain function.
It was reported that she was emerging from her "vegetative state": A day after the state's highest court ruled that the Department of Social Services could withdraw life support from a brain-damaged girl, the agency said yesterday that Haleigh Poutre might be emerging from her vegetative state. ...
Now DSS says it has no "immediate" plans to deny her nutrition. Officials now say that they will consult bioethicists and other experts about the "complex medical and ethical issues" raised by her case. State Department of Social Services Commissioner Harry Spence said yesterday that he plans to solicit outside expertise to help his agency sort out the complex medical and ethical issues around the fate of Haleigh Poutre.
Still, DSS has not asked that the court order giving the agency life-and-death power over Haleigh be rescinded. They do not say that she is a child who, regardless of whether she will has residual disabilities or not, has the same right to access to food and water as any other child in state custody. They have not said that they will belatedly assume their responsibility to preserve her life -- nor have they indicated that they will put finding Haleigh a new family on the fast track.
There is a feeling in Massachusetts that DSS, by pressing so quickly for the "right to die," jumped the gun, so to speak. DSS may even get its wrist slapped. "Several Beacon Hill lawmakers say they will summon Social Services Commissioner Harry Spence to explain the department's oversight of Haleigh Poutre," reported the Globe's Michael Levenson on Jan. 22. However, it will be an uphill fight to secure any policy changes. "Several lawmakers said they have confidence in Spence's leadership, reported the Globe's Patricia Wen on Jan. 22. . '' 'Commissioner Spence is one of the most sincere commissioners I've ever met,' said Representative Marie J. Parente, a Milford Democrat."
This is because the issue is not really about personal autonomy, as last year's Schiavo editorials would have us believe. No; the issue really comes down to differences of opinion over whether this or that particular life is "worth saving." For some, the answer is "not if the person can't talk or feed himself" (you know, if the person ends up a little like Stephen Hawking). For others, the answer is, "no, not if the person can't be expected to make a "full recovery" (you know, return to "normal"). ... most families eventually agonize over how much progress is enough to keep life support going, said Dr. Michael Grodin, director of biomedical ethics at Boston University. Is it enough that the patient is breathing on his or her own and showing normal sleep-wake cycles, even if there is no prospect of being able to talk or feed themselves? Or does the patient need to substantially return to normal?...
There certainly seems to be a lot of latitude here -- for families, for the state when it becomes "family." Diane Coleman has a phrase for this as well: The "dismantling of rights." My question for my fellow liberals: exactly at what point would you join disability activists in drawing the line? Or do you just want to let the bioethicists sort it all out?

Differences
Hi there, come to realize this, that TBlog is different from xanga.com where I have a couple of weblogs. In regards to comments here, I am still not too sure about how to respond to comments. I thought we went to the person who left the comment and respond etc. Have come to notice one can have a conversation that can be ongoing if one wants to. This is new to me and my apologies for my ignorence in the matter.
Also the fact that I have had a struggle last year with tiredness, which has at last been diagnosed Hypothyroidism, Underproducing thyroxine through my systerm. It sure is a relief to know now what it is.
That is all I have to say unless anyone wants to leave a comment.

HUMOR
This has got to be one of the funniest I've heard in a long time. This guy should have been promoted, not fired.
Needless to say, the Help Desk employee was fired, however he is currently suing the WordPerfect organization for "Termination without Cause." This is the dialogue of a former WordPerfect Customer Support Employee (now I know why they record these conversations): ************************* ************************* *********** Employee   ; "Rich Hall, Computer Assistance; may I help you?" Customer   ; "Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect." Employee   ; "What sort of trouble?" Customer   ; "Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away." Employee "Went away?" Customer   ; "They disappeared." Employee "Hmmm... So what does your screen look like now?" Customer "Nothing." Employee   ; "Nothing?" Customer   ; "It's a blank; it won't accept anything when I type." Employee   ; "Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out?" Customer   ; "How do I tell?" Employee   ; "Can you see the 'C: prompt on the screen?" Customer   ; "What is a sea prompt?" Employee   ; "Never mind, can you move your cursor around the screen?" Customer   ; "There isn't any cursor; I told you, it won't accept anything I type." Employee   ; "Does your monitor have a power indicator?" Customer   ; "What's a monitor?" Employee   ; "It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on?" Customer   ; "I don't know." Employee   ; "Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that?" Customer   ; "Yes, I think so." Employee   ; "Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall." Customer   ; "Yes, it is." Employee   ; "When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it or just one?" Customer   ; "No." Employee   ; "Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable." Customer "Okay, here it is." Employee   ; "Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer." Customer   ; "I can't reach." Employee   ; "Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is?" Customer   ; "No." Employee   ; "Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over?" Customer   ; "Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle, it's because it's dark." Employee   ; "Dark?" Customer   ; "Yes - the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window." Employee   ; "Well, turn on the office light then." Customer   ; "I can't." Employee   ; "No? Why not?" Customer   ; "Because there's a power failure." Employee   ; "A power.......a power failure? Aha, okay, we've got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and the packing stuff your computer came in?" Customer   ; "Well, yes, I keep them in the closet." Employee "Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from." Customer   ; "Really? Is it that bad?" Employee   ; "Yes, I'm afraid it is." Customer   ; "Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them?" Employee   ; "Tell them you're too stupid to own a computer." |
Unexpectant and kind've Unpleasant Experience
Unpleasant Experience
Heard a lot of shouting and tires squealing, like burnouts. Thinking it was the doggie next door had gone out to investigate and found it was nothing to do that.
A man in a blue car was shouting at a blonde haired very thin girl to get into the car, and she wouldn't get in.
Early I had heard a lot of noice behind the hibiscus tree which had hidden them from view and I had thought it was the dog next door had gotten out. But then really realized the couple would never spoken or shouted to their dog like this man was shouting at this girl.
Never come across this kind of thing before.
The girl was now hiding behind a blue car on the front verge of the corner house , right where the doggie lives and the gate was open which made me think it had got out.
He was calling her to get in the car, she wouldn't and moved back up the street in front of the Hibsicus tree again. He was so abusive and I said to her to get over the fence and inside the house which she did.
He hung around for a while shouting abusive language etc. Inside the house, we wanted to ring the police but she wanted none of that, apparently she said that some police accept bribes for information. The fellow she is living with is the one who is in the blue station wagon that was harressing her is the son of a Bikie also.
Anyway, with the man in the blue station wagon carrying on out front, Bob decided to ring the police and got through, and had given out our address when she just cut Bob off and wanted to leave. We tried to calm her down, calm her down?
We were the one's needing to be calmed down. I offered her a drink of water which she accepted. And she left not long after Bob suggested away for her to go from here.
After she left we heard no tires burning, no abusive language so hopefully she got to her destination alright.
In the meantime saw a Police Van drive up the road, told Bob about it. I came again drove into a friends driveway and back out again and came down straight past our letterbox.
In the end I rang them up and let them know what had happened, and the Police man on the phone said to me. If she didn't want their help then she is not worth helping. Not to sure of that attitude.
Thought I would put this here to help my nerves to settle down which I think it has done. Praise the Lord.

ISRAELI PRIZE FOR MEDIA CRITICISM AWARDED TO CAROLINE GLICK AND YINON MAGAL
An IMW representative praised Glick’s high degree of professionalism and her critical reporting, stating, “During the past year Glick wrote a series of articles where she accused the media of blatantly rallying support for carrying out the disengagement plan. Caroline Glick is deemed worthy of this prize because of her professional and fair media achievements as well as her pointed criticism of Israeli mass media.” The prize committee, appointed by IMW President Ambassador Zalman Shoval, was comprised of members of the presidium of IMW, and represented a broad spectrum of political and ideological streams. The committee members were: Ambassador Zalman Shoval, Chairman Dr. Mor Altshuler, the writer Ehud Ben-Ezer, the poet Erez Biton, IMW Chairman Prof. Eli Pollak, and Gen. (res.) Oren Shachor. Glick claimed that the Israeli media deliberately failed to cover incidents of government corruption and instead were unfailingly supportive of the Sharon administration’s policy. She took a firm stand against the government’s attempts to block open media coverage of the Gush Katif expulsion. Caroline Glick earned her reputation as a seasoned journalist through her coverage from the front line during the second Gulf War. Her knowledge of international and U.S. media, coupled with her experience during the Gulf War, gave her words of criticism against the Israeli media added clout. Yinon Magal is the reporter most associated with launching harsh criticism of the media’s lack of honesty in their coverage of the disengagement. “He is being awarded this prize because of his willingness to critique his media colleagues as well as the whole of mass media in Israel,” stated an IMW representative. “It is possible for a reporter to be biased, but there cannot be lying, that’s incitement," Magal said. "When the gap between what the media broadcasts and what really happened is too great, it does not end well. I try to bring my viewers the complex reality and the reality is much harsher than what we see in the media." “The media has adopted the Prime Minister’s terminology," Magal said, "using the terms disengagement and evacuation. How is it possible that there exists an entire population of people being sent out of their homes that uses words like expulsion, and no one in the media is using those terms? The media are like a herd of stampeding elephants, and no one can turn around when a herd of elephants are stampeding.” |
BUM BASHING VS. LEGAL CITIZEN BASHING
| EMAIL THIS Email----- Original Message ----- From: Judith Moriarty noahshouse@adelphia.net BUM BASHING VS. LEGAL CITIZEN BASHING What a country of colossal hypocrites we live in. Those who pay little attention; to the multitudes of homeless across the country - living under bridges, in barns, cars, shelters, or on city streets, will probably give the story of the bored, Florida punks, out beating to death homeless people with baseball bats, no more than a passing glance - if that. The boys - all from upscale - neighborhoods were said to be 'just ordinary kids, no trouble, always courteous etc'. Why to hear the neighbors speak - butter wouldn't melt in these little monsters mouths. Why did they do it? Why "for fun" - just "for fun." They'd watched ( see story below from CNN) the newest craze in videos out, BUM BASHING - made in California, by two deranged idiots, who paid homeless people ( alcoholics - mentally ill - drug addicts) to beat each other up - push down stairs etc. In the new world of 'reality TV' they thought this would be a profitable endeavor and so it has been. The young kid above looks like he could be anybody's kid, in anywhere town U.S.A. With the horrific violence in today's realistic video games - (even the Defense Dept. puts them out), Shock and Awe theater, towns in Iraq pulverized, citizens melted with phosphorus, bunker busters, missiles aimed at the wedding receptions, girlfriends off for that convenient method of birth control, an abortion, and multitudes left to die in nursing homes, on New Orleans streets, or in hospitals - begging for help (for days) why do we wonder at this insensitivity and irreverence towards life? A child raised in a home that encourages mockery, ridicule, and a sense of entitlement that he/she is above those from a different class, religion, or culture - will have no problem in perpetuating this depraved indifference. Some may find it "fun" in their boredom and spend a night out bashing the 'bums, homos, sand niggers, spics, white trash, whores etc.' The media did not cover the 'legal' assault on seniors, students, union workers, and grandparents during the 2003 FTAA peaceful protest in Miami, Florida. - Rest assured these youngsters weren't isolated from the happenings. With 8.5 million of funds diverted from money meant for equipment for soldiers in Iraq - to the Miami police department to outfit their Ninja mercenaries - to legally club, stomp, gas, and fire wooden and rubber bullets at American citizens; wishing to save their jobs (their children's) from these trade treaties - closing down auto, textile, steel mills, farms etc - and seeing them shipped to slave labor third world nations, maybe they got the idea that baseball bats, in lieu of Ninja clubs, was just fun and games. After all - if ordinary citizens marching for jobs could be attacked with such relish; who would care if they got rid of a few homeless people? Heck - if there's even a whisper of a group home, a soup kitchen or shelter, opening within blocks of their homes, children hear their parents outrage. Others experience cocoon protected life styles - Yuk away from the riff - raff. If you're wealthy and booze it up you're an alcoholic and in need of specialized therapy. If you're poor, you're a no good drunk. Athletes on drugs with violent behavior go to exclusive rehab centers; the poor go to jail or end up being beaten to death by baseball bats. It's all in location - location - location! Bum Bashing or Citizen Bashing: One is reported as an outrage and the other made legal by the law! Contained as the news is - there was no hour upon hour; of non-stop coverage, of these attacks against free speech in Miami. What we were saturated with was the infotainment of bleached - Michael Jackson, gyrating on a car roof top, and the lunacy of the bug eyed bride, who ran away! I wouldn't hesitate to guess, that there are few people - outside those who are still literate, whom you could discuss what the WTO, NAFTA, FTAA, CAFTA, Economic Summit, G-8 stand for; or how the deals made behind guarded walls will affect their lives? Hell I've heard those asked questions by reporters on the Civil War thinking it was the Watts Riots. True! I have YET to hear one reasonable in-depth report on national TV that has explained any of these organizations or treaties to the people. You'd be hard pressed to find a politician in your own area to discuss it with. Heck in our state, only 5 Democrats objected to CAFTA - and this is supposedly one of the more politically educated states. A society that loses its reverence towards one part of life soon loses it all. We have become a throwaway - disposal society. If people become burdensome or don't fit the norm - just toss'em like so much litter! If you're looking for "fun" it is advised that you wait until you grow up. Then you can get your own special club, helmet, gas, body armor, and weapons and do it legally for money! People would do well to take note of this depraved indifference, as it's been rumored, that most in this country, are just a few paychecks away from homelessness. You may be 'bashed' next - for fun! AMERICA AND HER ENEMIES
EMOTIONALLY DISTURBED CHILDREN
IMAGINE
| From: | AM |
Angela Bertz on John Lennon's ?Imagine? At 11.15 p.m. on the evening of December 8th 1980 John Lennon was pronounced dead. Shot at point blank range as he returned home to his New York apartment, he was killed almost instantly. A devastated Yoko Ono would say "Tell me it's not true." Twenty five years later in a poll of 7000 listeners, his hit single ?Imagine? was voted the UK?s favourite song. The song?s words are as poignant now as they were back in 1971 when John Lennon was in his heyday, promoting, not only free love, but a world filled with peace and hope. ?Imagine there's no heaven, it?s easy if you try? He could not have imagined his own demise at the hands of an assassin on that cold December night. Many years later and a million miles away from the luxury of the Dakota Apartment complex on Central Park West where John Lennon was gunned down, shootings that would tragically fail to fuel the world?s sympathy were taking place. Imagine a 10-month old baby secure in the arms of her mother as she stood together with her father in Hebron. On May 26, 2001 Shalhevet Pass could not have imagined that at that very moment a Palestinian sniper was lining up her head through the crosshairs of a gun and was about to shoot her dead. What was even harder to imagine was this lame excuse for a headline by the Associated Press "Jewish Toddler Dies in West Bank." ?No hell below us, above us only sky, Imagine all the people living for today...? Imagine a night in November 2001. Two little boys of four and five are safely tucked up in bed in their home on Kibbutz Metzer and their mother is about to read them a bedtime story. They could not have imagined that at any moment their front door would be shot down by a Palestinian gunman, who would then make his way to the once safe sanctuary of their bedroom and shoot their mother, who would try vainly and unsuccessfully to protect her two little boys from the same fate. Imagine two days later their grief stricken father had to watch the bodies of his wife and two little boys lowered into their graves. Imagine a 13 year old girl being treated for gun wounds in hospital. Imagine her pain as she would later recall her mother?s death to the doctors, by describing the moment she heard her shout out in pain and then all was quiet. Thirteen-year-old Avia Shabo would have to do just that on the night of June 20th 2002. She could not have imagined that just before 9 pm on that Thursday night a Palestinian terrorist had successfully infiltrated the settlement she lived in and in a few moments would burst into their home, shooting first her mother, followed by three of her siblings and a neighbour who had come to their assistance. ?Imagine there's no countries, It isn?t hard to do, Nothing to kill or die for,? Imagine a very pregnant woman Tali Hatuel and her four little daughters traveling out of Gaza in the family station wagon on May 2nd 2004. They could not have imagined the descent into a hellish nightmare they would plunge their husband and father David into that day. Traveling in the family station wagon two Palestinian gunmen shot at their vehicle from behind a house, causing it to lose control. Once of the road and stationary they approached the car, shooting at point blank range the mother, before turning their bullets into the heads of the four petrified little girls. Eventually overpowered and killed by Israeli Defense Forces, Palestinian radio would later relay the events of the day calling it ?an act of heroic martyrdom.? David Hatuel would say ?You were my flowers and I will not forget you.? Imagine a country that has had to live under the shadows of these attacks on an almost daily basis. Imagine a country where there is hardly a day where a child, mother, father or friend does not say ?tell me it?s not true?. ?No religion too, Imagine all the people living life in peace...? Imagine having to walk the streets or lie in your bed at night and hear the loud bang of a bomb. Imagine listening to ambulances speeding through the streets attempting to save the wounded. Imagine parents having to go to morgues to identify their children. Imagine looking at newspapers and seeing 20 smiling faces on the front cover and reading that they were victims of yet another Palestinian homicide bomb on a bus in Jerusalem, or in a beach front restaurant in Haifa. Imagine a nation that is still shaking their heads with the sheer horror of the latest attack, knowing that not far away Palestinians are dancing for joy in the streets, firing rifles in the air and throwing sweets to their children. ?Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can, No need for greed or hunger,? Imagine taking a wrong turn and finding yourself in a Palestinian police station which is taken over by hundreds of frenzied men, who will rip your limbs from your body, gouge out your eyes and disembowel you. Imagine a Palestinian kindergarten that will stage a year end show with little children dipping their hands in red paint and holding them up to beaming parents to acknowledge the heroism of this despicable act. Imagine having to read a headline on the BBC website that says ?Four people dead? and only after an in depth look at the details will it almost grudgingly reveal that one of the dead was an Israeli baby and young man who had been shot by Palestinian terrorists. ?A brotherhood of man, Imagine all the people. Sharing all the world...? Imagine a Palestinian mother that is currently running for public office whose legacy to the people she represents is three terrorist sons and who went on record as saying ?Israelis are Not Civilians and There are No Prohibitions on Killing Them; I Am Willing to Sacrifice My Ten Sons.? Imagine people that are supposedly striving for statehood, yet have rejected at every turn and corner the countless offers towards the realization of this dream. Imagine if you were recipients of billions of dollars of aid money, in fact more than any other people have ever been given, yet your hospitals in Gaza have never benefited from the few thousand dollars it would take to provide generators. Imagine simpering starry eyed professors in England and undergraduates on US university campus?s that romanticize of hooded men speeding through the dark nights of Gaza in stolen UNRWA ambulances packed with explosives, which they plan to smuggle into Israel to kill and maim innocent people. Imagine how it feels when the whole world is in an uproar when Israel border guards have the audacity to search these same ambulances, build a fence to stop mass murderers from walking freely into their country, inflict curfews or tear down homes that have supported terrorist activities. "You may say I?m a dreamer, but I?m not the only one," Imagine there is barely a public building, be it a restaurant, bank, mall, school etc, in the whole country where Israelis are not subject to having there bag searched. Imagine being told you could write the same emotion-soaking paper on many Palestinian children, over the last 5 years! Imagine having to tell someone that you assume lives with the same values and respect for human life as you do, that the tragic and I do mean tragic death of a Palestinian child is as painful as the death of any Israeli child. Imagine however people that seem unwilling, or unable to see that there is simply no moral equivalent to children deliberately shot in their homes, blown up on buses purposely aimed at while in their mothers arms and ones that are encouraged from birth to seek glory, not from a life well lived but setting their sights on death and mass murder. ?I hope some day you'll join us, and the world will live as one.? Imagine respected TV channels like CNN, CNN Headline News, MSNBC, CNBC, Fox News and Comedy Central airing ads on their networks called ?Imagine life as a Palestinian. This one minute tidbit of carefully camouflaged Palestinian propaganda, submitted by the American-Arab Discrimination Committee (ADC - a grassroots civil rights organization) aims to show the public just how cruel life can be under Israeli occupation. Recently broadcast to millions of people in catchment areas around the nation?s capital, these ads are sadly just another white wash of the underlying cause of this conflict. Choosing to blame Israel for all Palestinian woes, referring to atrocious human rights conditions is misleading in the extreme. Totally ignoring the Palestinians own policies of continual hate incitement, denial of historical facts and deliberately doing nothing to dismantle terrorism sounds a lot more like incrimination than discrimination. Maybe its time to do an ad entitled ?Imagine life as an Israeli.? However this is simply a pipe dream, as a country that has had to suffer over 25,000 Palestinian terrorist attacks in the last five years doesn?t have to draw from its imagination. John Lennon once said ?If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there'd be peace.? He was right. Airing twisted one sided ads on television, by fabricating the distorted views of only one side, under the so-called auspice of educating the public, ultimately serves no purpose and does nothing to promote peace in this region. Imagine that! Angela Bertz ? Israel |
NO MORE BEING "NICE JEWISH BOYS"
| From: | Sent: 16/01/2006 8:00 AM |
No more being "nice Jewish boys" who finish last and lose their Land, homes and jobs. The time for talk is long past. Action only. Jews in Hevron March on Casbah in Response to Threats IsraelNationalNews.com-January 15, 2006 / 15 Tevet 5766 The struggle for Hevron's Shalhevet neighborhood has begun, as residents, instead of waiting for the expulsion attempt, respond to the threat by trying to expand the Jewish presence in the city. Several hundred residents attempted to enter the city's Casbah market Saturday afternoon after a day of increasing tension between residents and the growing presence of Yassam riot police. The special police squads and soldiers posted to the city are preparing to evict a dozen Jewish families from the Shalhevet neighborhood, located in the old wholesale market. Hundreds of police and IDF forces were called into the area. An IDF officer of the Paratroops brigade was injured lightly when a stone was thrown at him. He said later that he was standing next to Arabs at the time, and "I would like to believe that the rock was not meant for me." Hevron spokesman Noam Arnon said that no one meant to injure Israeli soldiers. On Thursday, a building opposite entrances number four and five of Hevron's Tomb of the Patriarchs was burned. The Arab family living in the building had abandoned it four days earlier. Four youths were seen leaving the area, police say. A vehicle belonging to one of the Yassam units brought into Hevron was damaged by rocks thrown by local children near the city's Gross Square. A ten-year-old was arrested at the scene, but was released shortly later due to his age. Paint was also thrown at a Border Police jeep and tires slashed. The marketplace was built on top of Jewish-owned land after the Jews of Hevron were massacred and expelled in the 1929 Arab riots in the city. For years, a large billboard hung above the market explaining that it was built atop stolen Jewish land. After the murder of 10-month-old Shalhevet Pass by an Arab sniper, several Jewish families moved into the marketplace, which was no longer used by local Arabs due to a military order. Meanwhile, the holders of the original title to the property had turned it over to the Jewish community of Hevron. The government has announced half a dozen targets for demolition in the coming weeks, including nine permanent homes in the Binyamin community of Amona, three hilltop communities in Samaria and a house in Gush Etzion. At the destruction of the house in the Gush Etzion community of Sde Boaz, just north of Neve Daniel, police used tear gas and pepper spray to disperse protesters, yet still took an entire day to demolish the structure successfully, and were blocked from reaching the foundation of a second, larger structure. Political commentators in the weekend edition of B'Sheva newspaper suggest that acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, concerned about the negative effects of Ariel Sharon's declining health on their political future, are trying to provoke the residents of Judea and Samaria into actions that will lead to a further drop in support for the settlement enterprise, and an improvement in the Kadima Party's standing. |
LONG LIVE THE YOUTH OF ISRAE.

The Jewish Community of Hebron
January 16, 2006
The Jewish Community of Hebron has come under invasion by the Israeli police and other security forces. This morning, for the 2nd time in two days, dozens and dozens of police, border police and riot squad members invaded the Avraham Avinu neighborhood in Hebron.
The background: History - (See http://www.hebron.com/articles/murderedtwic e.htm" title="http://www.hebron.com/articles/murderedtwic e.htm" target="_blank"http://www.hebron.com/article...)
At the present:
Two weeks ago an expulsion order ultimatum  ;was issued: Be out of the homes in the Mitzpe Shalhevet neighborhood voluntarily by the 15th of January, or face forced expulsion, no later than the 15th of February. Hebron families refused to even consider evicting themselves from their homes Last week several hundred youth from all over Israel started coming into Hebron in order to show support and provide assistance to the community and the families threatened by expulsion. Being aware that the 15th of January was quickly approaching, and without any idea as to when the expulsion might be implemented, the Hebron community welcomed the youth with open arms. All help would be needed if the forces moved in. It is expected that thousands of police, soldiers and other special security forces will participate in the expulsion attempt, should it actually occur (G-d forbid.)
On Shabbat, the 14th of January, tensions ran high. The next day, Sunday, was the deadline. That next night could be D-Day. During the day several clashes were reported, between Israelis and Hebron Arabs, who started pelting people with rocks, and between Israelis and some of the security forces. During this incident an Israeli officer was hit and slightly wounded by a rock thrown by an Arab. This despite reports in the Israeli media that a Jew intentionally hit the officer with the rock. A weekly Shabbat tour of the Kasba was canceled at the last minute, with over 100 people waiting to participate. Some people started runing through the Kasba in reaction to the cancellation and this caused a brief confrontation with some of the security forces Saturday night: Some kids start a fire in an abandoned store. Hebron youth put the fire out. Sunday: January 15 – tension filled the air. Would nine families find themselves without homes the next day. Late Sunday morning: a group of youth, walking through Hebron passing Beit Hadassah in the direction of the Tel Rumeida neighborhood find the road blocked by Israeli soldiers, who refuse to let them pass. Among the security forces:Hebron military commander, Col. Motti Baruch. A discussion quickly becomes heated, voices are raised, push comes to shove. The kids want to know: why can't they keep walking? The pushing and shoving between the two sides gets rough. And then, suddenly, Col. Motti Baruch load his M-16 rifle, in the direction of the youth. All hell breaks loose.
Hebron leaders arrive at the scene and separate the two sides, pushing the youth away from the soldiers. Hebron police arrive and close off the street in both directions, declaring the gathering of youth 'illegal,' and threaten to start arresting people. The kids disappear and after a while the police leave. But the tension is so high you can cut it with a knife Sunday afternoon: Word filters out – the troops are on their way. A group of over 100 security forces, accompanied by horse-bound police march from Ma'arat HaMachpela to the Avraham Avinu neighborhood. Marching in, they immediately take to the roofs of adjacent buildings and take down make-shift tents pitched in the neighborhood. They start chasing after some of the kids, snatching them, here and there. Several are arrested and dragged away. After a little while the action stops but the troops remain. It turns into a stand-off: the troops watching the kids on rooftops and the kids staring at the police. Every once in a while an egg lands close to one of the police. When some of the youth threaten to throw rocks, Hebron leaders call on them to stop. That's the way things remain for a few hours, until the police leave. During the night: again, tense, but quiet.<o:p></o:p>
Monday morning: January 16: calm and quiet blanket the Avraham Avinu neighborhood, site of the previous day's action. Some of the youth express a desire to head home.
Then, suddenly, late in the morning, again, word gets out: they're on their way again. The troops, the water cannon, the horses! This time over 150 people invade the neighborhood, making their way quickly into the courtyard. Riot squad members, running, break into the Beitar Guest House, and climb up to the roof. Other police line the walls of the neighborhood. Still others climb up other stairs, stationing themselves on people's porches and roofs. A chain of police line up on stairs leading to the Avraham Avinu synagogue and Beit Nachum v'Yehuda, preventing people from reaching them. After a short time the small neighborhood is full of uniformed invaders, who, after having taken up positions, do nothing else.
Why have they arrived? One of the commanders tells his troops: "we are here to show 'strength.'" When Noam Arnon asks an officer, 'what are you doing here – everything is quiet and under control?" he is ignored. When he demands to see a search warrant from police chief Ali Zammir, allowing him to break into the Beitar Guest House, which is private property, Zammir's response: "if you have a complaint, put it in writing and send it to me." The police break the locks on door's leading to building rooftops in order to take up positions. Who will pay for the damage? The police don't care For hours the police stand at their positions, doing nothing. Several arrests are reported, including that of a 12 year old girl who is dragged into a police van screaming for someone to stay with her, to no avail. Finally, after hours of a second day of standoff, the security forces leave the neighborhood. Many riot squad members go down the road to Beit Hadassah and there too, stand outside, in a display of 'strength.' Eventually they too, leave. It is clear that the primary reason for the day's police show is overtly provocative: The police, arriving en masse, hope to 'be attacked' by the 'violent hoodlums' thereby providing an excuse to beat and arrest them. However, the kids are too smart to fall into the trap.. The police experience only cold and boredom. Early Evening: Most of the youth have decided to leave. The expulsion is still pending. According to sources within the government, it will not be implemented for at least a couple of more weeks. The kids can take a break and come back again in a week or so, if they are still needed.
Many journalists asked: how can you put up with such 'violent hooligan's,' in their words. The answer is very simple. These youth are neither hoodlums or hooligans. Rather, they are some of the most ideologically motivated people in Israel today. These kids are true lovers of their land, of Eretz Yisrael. These youngsters are still crying the pain of expulsion from Gush Katif and the northern Shomron. Their hearts are still bleeding the wounds of our land being abandoned to our enemies. They hurt the hurt of thousands of homeless Jews, who committed no crime but to live in Gush Katif. These youth want to prevent more expulsions, here in Hebron and in Amona, and in other places throughout Judea and Samaria Enough is enough! No more expulsions, no more homeless, no more abandoned Jewish property. Eretz Yisrael belongs to Am Yisrael, the Jewish people and no one, but no one, has the right to evict and expel Jews from their land. And what about the excessiveness, the seeming violence?
Sixteen year-olds don’t react the same way as fifty year olds. Sometimes the reactions are exaggerated, but then again, remember what they are fighting for. In contrast, how many youth have been stabbed at Israeli nightclubs, due to 'love' or drugs or alcohol, or all three of the above? Dozens and dozens. Almost every weekend, another act of real violence, due to… a desire for what? For the good of our land, of our people, of our Torah?
When was the last time 'the troops were sent in' to prevent another stabbing, another murder? How many 'troops have been called in' to stop another terror attack, leaving more orphans and widows? How many troops are called up to prevent another Kasam missile from falling in Sderot?
Our youth, having witnessed people singing and dancing, hugging and kissing their expellers this summer in Gush Katif scream out: "NO MORE! We will not sing and dance with people who want to throw us out of our homes, off our land. They are the real criminals, not us!" And how right they are! We should be proud that we have such youth, whose motivation stems, not from personal desire or gain, but from a true love and yearning for their land, a G-d given gift to our people. Long live the youth of Israel

2005 Communications to PM Reveal Traditional Marriage Topped Canadians' Concerns
By Gudrun Schultz
OTTAWA, Ontario, January 17, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Canadians expressed more concern over the redefinition of marriage than over any other issue, in communications sent to Prime Minister Paul Martin in 2005.
An analysis of letters, emails and phone calls sent to Martin over the course of the year shows a significant effort on the part of the Canadian public to express opposition to changing the traditional definition of marriage. The Canadian Press obtained the information through an access to information request.
"An overwhelming majority of callers was opposed to a redefinition of traditional marriage," says an analysis of 880 phone calls about same-sex received in January last year. "Some called for a referendum on the matter."
More than ten percent of all communications sent to the Prime Minister were on the topic of same-sex marriage. Even without the inclusion of form letters and duplicated emails, opposition to the redefinition of marriage was expressed in a majority of personally written communications.
Most of the letters and phone calls were sent during the winter and spring months of last year, as Bill C-38, the bill to redefine marriage was under way in the House. 5,755 individually written items were sent during February alone.
"This topic continues to dominate all others," says a monthly analysis. "The majority of letters seem to be part of an organized letter-writing campaign by various churches."
Conservative party leader Stephen Harper has said his government would revisit the legislation on same-sex ‘marriage’ if elected, and he would allow a free vote in his caucus. He is the only party leader to offer this.

Family of Slain Canadian Teen and Unborn Child Petitions for Unborn Victims of Violence Act
By Terry Vanderheyden
OTTAWA, January 17, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The family of a slain teen and her unborn child has launched a petition for the creation of a law to protect unborn victims of violence.
In association with the pro-life group LifeCanada, the family of Olivia Talbot, who was 27 weeks pregnant when she was shot to death at her home in Alberta in November, has launched the petition on line.
“Even though Olivia was in her third trimester of pregnancy, no charges were laid in the death of her unborn child,” LifeCanada explained in a release. “Since Canadian law does not recognize the child in the womb as a person, he or she has no rights until birth.”
LifeCanada revealed results of a Focus Canada poll they commissioned, conducted in October by Environics Research. The poll found that 64% of Canadian women support legal protection of unborn children before birth. “For the fourth year in a row, we see that the majority of Canadians do not support the existing situation in Canada in which there is no legal protection for babies in the womb,” said Joanne Byfield, president of LifeCanada.
“There is no legal protection for unborn babies at any stage, even for those who are injured or killed in the course of a violent crime,” Byfield added. “Canadians should insist that their government’s respect the wishes of the voters and provide some protection for babies in the womb. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms includes the right to life. If we deny it to these most vulnerable human beings, it is a very fragile and arbitrary right.”
Petitions are not accepted during an election campaign. LifeCanada urges that completed petition sheets be held until after the election and then sent to the newly elected MPs.

LOOKING FOR AISHA McEWAN
Looking for Alisha McEwan
By RUSS CHOMA
Union Leader Correspondent
Londonderry — It’s been over a month since her 13-year old daughter, Alisha McEwan, disappeared, but Tracy McEwan’s voice still cracks with emotion when she describes her child.
“She was a pretty easy-going kid,” McEwan said. “She got good grades, helped out around the house, and was good with her sisters.”
Alisha McEwan, 13, of Londonderry has been missing since Dec. 11. Her boyfriend, Paul Szalay Jr., 15, formerly of Derry, reportedly went missing from his new home in Texas a few weeks later. (FAMILY PHOTO)
But last summer, McEwan said, Alisha began to change. She got a new boyfriend, and the eighth-grader at Derry’s Gilbert H. Hood Middle School began to do things she had never done before. “I started giving her stricter rules about being on the phone too long or going out anywhere, and she’d break them,” McEwan said.
“Then she’d lose one of (the privileges), and then she would sneak.” The night of Dec. 11, Alisha was staying with her father, Shane McCarthy, at his Londonderry home. After spending the day shopping with her stepmother, McEwan said, Alisha went to go lie down in her room. At around 11:30 p.m., McCarthy checked on her, and turned her television off. The next morning at 6 a.m., she was gone. The only clues were footprints in the snow leading towards the road.
McEwan said her daughter left no hint of where she may have gone, but she believes Alisha’s disappearance may be linked to Alisha’s 15-year old boyfriend, Paul Szalay Jr., who used to live in Derry but this fall moved to San Antonio, Texas.
“From the things that I found in her room, it just seems that she’s obsessed with him and everything he said,” McEwan said. According to McEwan, Szalay went missing from his new home in San Antonio several weeks after Alisha disappeared. San Antonio police could not be reached to confirm this.
Londonderry Police Capt. William Hart said his department is handling the matter, but has few clues to share. At the moment, Hart said, Alisha is being treated as a runaway child. The possibility that she may have gone to Texas is something that’s being considered, Hart said.
“We’re working closely with other law enforcement agencies, including Derry and the San Antonio police,” he said. “We’re looking at a lot of possibilities, including the possibility that she might be in the (Derry) area.”
As McEwan continues to wait, she said one of the most disturbing things she’s discovered since her daughter’s disappearance is that Alisha had a page on MySpace.com. MySpace, a social networking Web site that counts 48 million users in its network. Users can develop their own highly personalized pages that profile their interests and allow them to post pictures, contact other members and share messages.
Although MySpace policy states “If you’re under 14, MySpace is not the place for you. Go away,” Alisha did have a profile. Littered with icons of Smirnoff Ice bottles and marijuana leaves, McEwan said the Web site represents a side of her daughter she did not know.
“There were a lot of things that I found out afterwards that I didn’t realize she was doing,” McEwan said. “I didn’t know she had that MySpace page — and all those nasty things she wrote — that was not her. She didn’t swear; she didn’t talk like that to people.”
Though McEwan describes MySpace as “an awful site,” it is also being used as a tool in the search for Alisha. Georgette Massey, Alisha’s aunt, has started her own MySpace profile where pictures of Alisha and information about her have been posted.
Several of Alisha’s friends have also posted their own messages of support. “I am her best friend and always will be,” wrote one friend, who signed her name as Sammie. “Alisha, if you see anything like this, you are and always will be missed.”

Caught On Tape: Homeless Man Beaten With Bats
Three Men Attacked In Fort Lauderdale; One Dies
January 12, 2006
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Police in Fort Lauderdale are investigating a series of overnight attacks that left one homeless man dead. One of the beatings was caught on tape.
Images: Surveillance Video Shows Attack
The men were beaten at three locations early Thursday morning -- the Florida Atlantic University campus at Los Olas, Church by the Sea at 17th Street and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
Police said the men were beaten by two to four white men armed with bats or sticks.
Surveillance video from FAU showed one of the attacks. In the video, two white men are seen beating the homeless man with what appear to be bats.
Despite his injuries, the man was able to contact campus security, who called Fort Lauderdale police at about 1 a.m. The man is listed in serious condition at Broward General Hospital.
At 2 a.m., police received another call in the 400 block of Southwest Second Street near Riverwalk. Norris Gaynor, 45, died from his injuries at Broward General Medical Center, police said.
"It is a terrible thing that happened and they will be punished accordingly," police Detective Kathy Collins said. She said Gaynor's death will bring homicide charges against the attackers.
A third victim was attacked while he was sleeping in a parking lot at Church by the Sea. That man is in serious condition.
"We cannot say for certain that these are related, however there are a lot of similarities," Collins said. "The victims were homeless. The suspects were two to four white males and the nature of the crime, that they were beatings. We are linking them and we're trying to gather information right now."
Ten years ago, Sean Cononie founded The Homeless Voice, an advocacy group that also provides shelter for the homeless. On Thursday, Cononie hit the streets to give out fliers to alert the homeless community about the beatings.
"I could never answer why somebody commits a hate crime, especially when they give you an answer 'for fun,'" Cononie said. "They've been decapitated before. They've been lit on fire. They've been pushed in rivers as they sleep and drowned."
Police are asking for the public's help in finding the attackers.
"We're following up on all the leads that we get. We have received some leads already, some tips from the public. We would like the public to continue calling us with any information they have. If they think that they may recognize someone but they're not sure, call us anyway," Collins said.
If you recognize the men in the video, call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
According to the National Coalition for the Homeless, 25 homeless people in the U.S. were killed in attacks in 2004.
Roger L.Simon reviews Islam:
Roger L. Simon reviews Islam: What the West Needs to Know
Roger L. Simon has one up on me: he has seen the documentary about Islam and jihad in which I appear, and I haven't. He reviews Islam: What the West Needs to Know at his blog today:
Three controversial films were screened at the AFR festival in Hollywood Sunday afternoon - The Full Story (a settler-sympathetic short from Israel), Submission - Part 1 (excerpted scenes from the movie that cost Theo van Gogh his life) and the world premiere of the documentary Islam: What the West Needs to Know. Security was tight because, in these odd times, it is the non-PC films that bring us to the edge of danger in the way movies like Battle of Algiers did in the old days. The VIP lounge and the balcony were closed for these screenings because of unspecified threats. But enough about the perils of movie-going, here's my take on the films themselves.[...]
From what I understand, the makers of Islam: What the West Needs to Know (director: Bryan Daly) were reluctant to screen with Submission because they didn't want to be associated with the notorious film, which is strange since their documentary is easily as hard on the Islamic faith as van Gogh's work. The documentary is ninety-five minutes of non-stop recapitulation of the history of the religion, its belief system and political intent narrated by well-known scholars and critics Robert Spencer, Walid Shoebat, Serge Trifkovic and Bat Ye'or. I have read all these people exept Trifkovic and respect them all. Speaking one after another as talking heads on the film (it's that kind of old-fashioned documentary) they raise the question of our time that few dare speak, at least on any level of serious analysis. Is jihadism the real Islam or is there an actual moderate strain of the religion? Clearly, from its title, it's obvious this film takes the former view and warns the West to heed the consequences of its dire conclusion.
Does it convince? Not entirely. But I think documentaries - particularly talking-head documentaries - are not ultimately a convincing form. They are too easily subject to manipulation by the filmmaker. The various writers who speak here are more interesting in their books, which develop their arguments at much greater length and depth. Still, this is a necessary film and I hope it finds distribution. Even though I hope its argument is at least partly wrong, I fear that it is not.
Roger is right. I am much more interesting in my books than in person. My friends tell me that all the time. Still, I'd like to see the film, and hope I will get a chance when it is showing, as it surely must, at the Empire Burlesque in downtown Secure Undisclosed Locationville.

The Illness of Ariel Sharon
January 6, 2006
"How to Rightly Discern The Illness of Ariel Sharon"
--David Dreiling
Email: daviddreiling@comcast.net
Please let me begin this document by expressing that what I'm writing here is a "prophetic opinion," which I believe has merit, yet knowing that other prophetic people, both inside and outside of Israel will have differing opinions.
Let me begin by saying that it is G-d, who tears down one and raises up another. I believe the events of the past few days regarding Sharon's health prophetically reflect G-d's purposes, notwithstanding the arguments that the enemy is also involved in these things, of course.
MIDDLE EAST HISTORY OF TRIBAL THINKING
In order to understand these events, one needs to understand the basic governments of the Middle East. Historically, the Middle East has been divided up into tribes that have been at war with each other.
These tribes are very paternalistic, and fierce loyalty is an attribute that is greatly rewarded. Accordingly, it is very common, for example, at least historically-- when one dynasty or family is replaced by another-- that the new leader murders all of the close associates of the original leader and kills all of those others who might challenge his authority.
This was true when Saddam Hussein took power. Furthermore, we see in the Middle East, like nowhere else on earth, kings or warlords who control whole countries as families. Examples of this would be the Saudis, the Hashemites in Jordan, and the ruling house of Syria.
Said another way, the people of this Middle Eastern territory often desire a king, an autocratic ruler, whom they can look up to. The root of this, I believe, goes back to the ancient story of Abraham, Ishmael, and Hager.
Even before that is the story of the descendants of Cain, who were banished from Adam's presence, yet they also helped populate this region.
FATHERLESSNESS IN THE MIDDLE EAST
These stories are stories of fatherlessness. That is, they are stories of our needs as people to have a father to look up to. Remember, in this region, people from ancient times have desired a king or leader to admire and sometimes even worship.
They have at times disregarded even the most blatant corruption and nepotism in authority figures, such as Yasser Arafat. That is why most of the leaders in this region, upon obtaining power, are "in power" for life.
GOD'S PEOPLE ALSO WANTED A KING
The Children of Israel were no different in ancient times when they asked for a king to rule over them so that they could also be like the other nations.
So Samuel gave them a king, even though the L-rd was disappointed in the request. The L-rd has always been jealous of his people and has always desired to be their King, rather than a man over them.
. . . And so it is today.
The reason I am sharing all of this is that although Israel is a democracy, the events of the past few months have served to establish Sharon as a virtual "king" in Israel.
LIKENED TO OUR RECENT PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
Let me illustrate. He was elected on a hawkish platform as a champion of fighting for the Land. However, in 18 months, he completely reversed his stand. Amazingly, he was able to persuade the majority of Israelis that his change of opinion was justified.
After unilaterally withdrawing from Gaza, he drew the anger of his own party, the Likud. Then, as if overnight, he formed a new party, Kadima.
Within weeks, this party had become the dominant voice in Israeli politics. This popularity reflects Sharon's immense standing with the Israeli public. Most Americans, and Christians in particular, simply don't understand the complex and emotional issues concerning the Gaza withdrawal and why after it, even with the nightly shelling of Israeli towns, they still supported Sharon.
MY PURPOSE FOR WRITING ALL OF THIS
But that issue is not my purpose here.
I've said all this to say that I believe that G-d is jealous over Israel, and His desire is to be their only King.
One day, the Son of David will rule from Jerusalem. But today, as Sharon has lifted himself up as a modern-day king, he has come under the scrutiny and the Hand of G-d. In recent weeks, it has increasingly appeared that Sharon could almost single-handedly decide who to choose as Knesset members.
Israeli politics seems a game of who has favor with Sharon and who does not. I believe G-d has, in fact, been offended by this political atmosphere.
We have ample testimony in the Bible of people who have exalted themselves in place of G-d, and it is usually at this point that G-d strikes them. Nebuchadnezzar is the obvious example.
However, I want to hasten to add that I am not being critical of Sharon's character. Although I did not know him, I feel that he was a man who tried to do his best to lead his country. Notwithstanding, when he forsook the loyalty to his party's platform and took to himself the leadership of the nation that is the apple of G-d's eye, he stood in contention against the L-rd, and the Angel of the L-rd has dealt with him--or at least it seems that way. Only God knows for sure.
THE POLITICAL ATMOSPHERE THAT OFFENDS GOD
Today, Israelis are saying on the streets, "If Sharon is gone, who will lead us?"
There is an enormous vacuum of leadership in Israel today.
However, this vacuum is G-d's doing because HE is still sitting enthroned in Heaven. This is a huge thing--equivalent to the vacuum that America felt when John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Let us pray and seize the day as Believers. May the heart of Israelis be turned again to the very Words of G-d. As they fear terror from without and disunity and confusion within the government, let the hearts and eyes of G-d's people look up, and let the L-rd be magnified and praised in Israel.
Finally, I say let us all fear, lest we become wise in our own understanding and exalt ourselves because we think we know the will of the L-rd and what is right for Him to do in other nations and with other peoples.
Let us fear lest we find ourselves poking our finger into the apple of G-d's eye and opposing the L-rd. Let every man who thinks he knows and understands consider that he does not know the mind of the L-rd. It is at least possible that Sharon became wise in his own understanding and too powerful in Israel for his own good.
Please forgive me if I address one other issue. When President Bush was elected in 2004, a British newspaper ran the following headline the next day, "How can 57 million Americans be so stupid?"
CAUTION--YOU'RE ENTERING DANGEROUS TERRITORY
CAUTION: To an Israeli, statements saying that Sharon was killed by their G-d for abandoning Gaza are just as demeaning as that headline above.
Furthermore, it makes the "Christian's" G-d appear vindictive. If we are not careful, we make it appear that we believe that the "Christian" G-d punishes Jewish leaders for not doing what Christians think the Jewish leader should have done. We don't have the standing to authoritatively claim that as truth. We simply don't know for sure.
Never mind the fact that the Jewish leader had the heart and support of the majority of Israelis, as evidenced by the instant ascendancy of Kadima in Israeli politics.
Just as the writer of the British headline assumed that Kerry was clearly the better candidate in the USA and ought to have been elected by the "stupid" Americans, so statements regarding Sharon's demise as a judgment for his Gaza policies seem very offensive to many rank and file Jews. . . and frankly, it should be avoided.
HOW CHRISTIANS SHOULD APPEAL TO THE HEART OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE
Christians should be trying to appeal to the heart of Jewish people concerning the goodness and mercy of God! Rather, they appear to be politicized as right-wing supporters of things that they may not fully understand.
I hasten to add that I am not arguing the case for the rightness or falseness of the Gaza issue claim. I am suggesting that if a person dies of lung cancer because he smoked three packs a day, one doesn't say at his funeral that he was a fool to smoke. Sharon was a great leader in Israel and should be honored for his service to G-d's people--not demeaned for a policy that it is believed unscriptural because some make assessments as to the content and timing of G-d's promise to Israel concerning the Land.
That Sharon devoted his life to service to his country is fact.
Please do not receive this last part as criticism of others. I respect their opinions and believe there is much truth in many points of view. Notwithstanding, I feel that the above issue is not likely to be addressed by many, and so I felt a need, especially in light of my own Jewish Heritage, to express my concern that some Christians, in their zeal, might needlessly damage their relationships with Jewish friends that they have worked hard to develop.
Blessings,
David Dreiling

Islamic Jihad activists in the West Bank village of Atil, near Tul Karm, announced on loudspeakers that their bomber, Sohieb Ibrahim Yassin, 19, carried out Thursday's attack. Army sources said the suicide bomber who killed an Israel Defense Forces officer and two Palestinians at an army checkpoint near Tul Karm Thursday was apparently planning to blow himself up at one of the many children's events taking place in Tel Aviv during this week's Hanukkah holiday. Had the bomber not been stopped at the checkpoint, the attack would have been far more deadly, said the sources. Janet Lehr &nb sp; &nbs p;   ; If I am not for myself, WHO WILL BE? Fr. Malachi Martin affirms: |
Fr. Malachi Martin's accusations
These allegations have largely gone unnoticed, possibly because he was so crafty in his descriptions that he might even have been referring to the coronation of Pope Paul VI. But he revealed much more about this alleged ritual in one of his last works, Windswept House: A Vatican Novel (1996). In this story, he vividly described a ceremony called “The Enthronement of the Fallen Archangel Lucifer” supposedly held in St. Paul’s Chapel in the Vatican, but linked with concurrent satanic rites here in the U.S., on June 29, 1963, barely a week after the election of Paul VI. In the novel, before he dies, a pope leaves a secret account of the situation on his desk for the next occupant of the throne of Peter, a thinly-disguised John Paul II.
Fr. Malachi Martin said more members of the clergy are becoming aware of the situation. An archbishop several years ago also accused high members of the hierarchy in Rome of practicing satanism. The Italian newspaper Il Tempo and other major daily papers reported this stunning news (Italian newspaper articles). Windswept House A Dark Vision
At the time of his passing on July 27, 1999, Martin was at work on what he said would be his most controversial and important book. Primacy: How the Institutional Roman Catholic Church became a Creature of The New World Order was to deal with power and the papacy. This work was to analyze the revolutionary shift that lies at the heart of what many see as the breakdown of papal power. It was to be a book of predictions about the Vatican and the world in the first decades of the new millennium.<O:P> The murder of Pope John Paul I
And Pope John Paul I’s brother:<O:P> </O:P><O:P>
From Time magazine (October 9, 1978):
But the Vatican replied that such allegations were “irresponsible.” (San Juan Star, October 18, 1978)<O:P> </O:P> The fact is, Our Lady’s message at Bayside New York affirmed, “man has fallen very low, even (resorting) to murder.” (October 6, 1978) And on May 21, 1983: “We will go back, My child, in history, a short history, and remember well what had happened in Rome to John, Pope John, whose reign lasted 33 days. O My child, it is history now, but it is placed in the book that lists the disasters in mankind. He received the horror and martyrdom by drinking from a glass. It was a champagne glass given to him by a now deceased member of the clergy and the Secretariat of the State [Cardinal Villot (right)].”<O:P> <O:P> Sound incredible? Please note that a 1975 ruling from the Vatican ordered that no autopsy could be performed on a Pope. How convenient. What does the Vatican have to fear from an autopsy? Not just Our Lady's message points to foul play. There is a best-selling book by David Yallop that also alleges that Pope John Paul I was murdered: In God’s Name: An Investigation into the Murder of Pope John Paul I. This is just one more symptom of what the real Third Secret is all about.<O:P> "But, My children, as I said in the past, I repeat again, that satan and his agents, the band of 666, has entered into the highest places of the hierarchy; and therefore he has captured some of Our formerly noble hierarchy to do his bidding." - Our Lady of the Roses, June 1, 1978 Directives from Heaven... http://www.tldm.org/directives/directives .htm" title="http://www.tldm.org/directives/directives .htm" target="_blank"http://www.tldm.org/directive...

| Unlike Islam's Koran, which commands Muslims to force the entire planet to submit to literal control by Islam, the Jewish Torah promises the children of Israel a modest and reasonable allotment of land. Israel in RED , is a democratic nation 1/19th the size of California, surrounded by 22 hostile Arab/Islamic dictatorships with 640 times her size, 60 times her population and ALL the oil. How dare Arab propagandists call Israel "expansionist!" And how dare anyone believe them! How can Israel, which occupies one-sixth of one percent of the lands called Arab, be responsible for the political dissatisfaction of 22 Arab countries? How can the 13 million Jews in the world (almost 5 million fewer than they were in 1939!) be blamed for the problems of the 300 million Arabs, who have brotherly ties to 1.4 billion Muslims worldwide? Israel is an oasis of Western Democracy and Judeo/Christian morality in the middle of an otherwise totalitarian Arab/Muslim Middle East. For over 55 years since she became a nation in 1948, Israel has sought peaceful coexistence with neighbors dedicated to her destruction. Thus far only Egypt and Jordan have formalized a peace treaty. In reality, these two peace treaties are are questionable.

Continuing...
| Israel is one of the tiniest nations on the face of the earth... only about 8,000 sq. miles, 2½ times the size of Rhode Island and only slightly larger than the Canary Islands!. It is only 260 miles at its longest, has a 112-mile coastline, 60 miles at its widest, and between 3 and 9 miles at its narrowest! A very high-powered rifle could launch a projectile right across the country! This is particularly frightening when one considers that 65% of Israel's population is within this 9-mile wide section (Tel Aviv area). Yet Arab propagandists call Israel "expansionist" and the "aggressor" against all Arab peoples. For those unfamiliar with the Arab interpretation of "aggressor," it means one who dares fight back against Arab aggression!! So even though Israel may have fought only defensive wars, the mere fact that she resisted total destruction is viewed as an "act of aggression." That's a case of wacky logic but, unfortunately, Israel doesn't have the luxury of picking her enemies! |
.
a. 3 miles wide here The surrounding 22 Arab countries are 640 times larger than tiny Israel yet they expect Israel to turn over all the West Bank, Gaza Strip, the Golan Heights and half of Jerusalem... territory they lost after they started the 1967 war! Click Here for a Flash Video of "The Importance of Judea-Samaria Mountain Ridges in the Era of Modern Weaponry |
| Need More Proof? The photo below shows a west-east view of Northern Israel's Hula Valley (a---b). I took the photo from atop the Menara Cliffs, just above Kiryat Shmona (a). Behind me (not shown) is Lebanon. Along the entire top of the photo (light blue area) is Syria with the Golan Heights rising up from the Hula Valley. The distance from Kiryat Shimona (a) to base of Golan Heights (b) is only 3 miles!!! It's no wonder that underground bomb shelters are everywhere! |
Read The 2-Minute Warning! for more details on mileage distances between Israel and her Arab neighbors.
| For those who wish to have Israel relinquish Judea and Samaria ("West Bank") so that the Arabs can form a SECOND Arab "Palestinian" Nation (the first being Jordan), take a close look at the map (below right). Notice the 2,200 foot high Judean Mountains running North to South 60 miles along the entire length of the West Bank. A Palestinian sniper (of which there are many!) or a rocket launcher would have a bird's eye view of Israel's most densely-populated areas. Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport would also be just a few short miles from the edge of a West Bank Palestinian nation! Israel's capital city of Jerusalem would be nearly encased within Palestinian territory and jeopardizing its ability to survive an attack. In effect, Israel would be reduced to a defenseless nation 9 to 25 miles wide at areas separating Israel Proper from that enemies on her eastern flank! Also, if the Gaza Strip and the West Bank were joined to form a continuous "Palestinian" land mass, Israel would be cut in half! (below left) |

Note: The Jordan River runs from the Sea of Galilee to the Dead Sea. It is the physical border
separating Israel and the West Bank (Judea & Samaria) from the Kingdom of Jordan.
| Look again at the above-left map. If Arafat and his Jew-murdering, Nazi terrorist thugs ever take possession of Judea-Samaria ("West Bank") and Gaza and call it their State, how will these two SEPARATE land areas (West Bank + Gaza) be connected? Will there be some underground tunnel? Some overhead bridge? Or will the Arabs simply demand a land corridor connecting these areas... in the process, cut Israel in half! This is a prescription for Israel's suicide and the Arabs know it! No nation is required to arrange the terms of her own suicide. Any peace-making must be at the negotiating table and not upon an autopsy table! If Israel were to turn over land of this magnitude, they would be signing their own death certificates. The Arabs of Judea-Samaria will just have to find some other place to pitch their tents... preferably in East Palestine (a.k.a. Jordan) or in any of the other 21 Arab Nations that surround Israel! |
tiny tiny tiny tiny
Israel would fit INSIDE nearly every U.S. state! In fact, tiny Israel would fit into the United States (Alaska & Hawaii included) 768 times! Israel could fit into Florida SEVEN times! The United States is a country surrounded by two vast oceans and two friendly countries, Canada and Mexico. Yet the United States Government has the nerve to tell Israel what it must, and must not do, for her own survival or in the name of some phony "Road Map" for Middle East Peace! Keep in mind that the United States has still not placed its U.S. Embassy in Israel's 3,000-year-old capital city of Jerusalem so as not to "offend" the Arab world's collective sensitivities! Well, we say it's about time for the United States government to show some backbone. How does Israel's size compare to other countries and regions? Click HERE |
WITH SHARON OUT OF THE PICTURE WHAT'S NEXT?
| Sent: 6/01/2006 7:42 AM |
With Sharon out of the picture what’s next?<o:p></o:p& gt; <o:p></o:p > No one including this Messenger knows just how this will play out one thing is certain Sharon is no longer the moving force in his new party Kadima on in Israeli politics. Daily we will all wake to a new reality, for 24 hours in Israeli politics is a very long time. One thing is certain no one is happy about Ehud Olmert being in charge of this country, this is a man who wasn’t able to run the city of Jerusalem and no one thinks for a minute that he is the right man for Prime Minister. In fact he is 33 on the Likud list and the only reason he was deputy PM is Sharon knew he had 100% control over him, he is a Sharon crony with little to no backing in the Knesset. With Sharon out of the picture Olmert will soon find himself in deep trouble within the Kadima party. The real problem is with the election March 28th there just isn’t time for a battle for position in the Kadima Party and there is no way this ego maniac will step aside without a fight, mostly because he loves the attention it will bring him. <o:p></o:p > With all the corrupt MK’s that followed Sharon into his new Kadima Party this will create a very serious vacuum, many are by this time trying to figure out a way to ask Netanyahu for forgiveness and hopefully move back to Likud. This will put Netanyahu into another dilemma he needs desperately to gain strength in a very short period of time in order to beat out the Labor Party before March 28th, the only possibility for Netanyahu too become Prime Ministry is for Likud to regain seats in the Knesset. Netanyahu has a hard battle ahead of him, not the least of them is to regain the confidence of the Israeli public as most regard him as a weak leader and the one who started this land for peace, opening the door for Oslo that brought us so much death and destruction. I’ve heard him say he has learnt his lesson and some of us are inclined to believe that. But then what option do we have now, with a new Kadima Party full of corruption and a Labor Party with a leader with absolutely no experience to qualify him to be Prime Minister. <o:p></o:p > The real problem will be to make the Settlers (300,000 votes) believe that he won’t destroy their Zionist dreams and force another Disengagement on them. That he won’t divide Jerusalem and that he will deal with the Islamic Palestinian terrorists in the right way to stop this insane murdering of Jews. He has less then 3 months to do all the above if he wants to be Prime Minister. It seems as if God has handed him a golden opportunity by removing Sharon, knowing that the Kadima Party was built entirely around one man who the entire country knew to be corrupt. The interesting thing is the country was still willing vote for this corrupt crime figure anyway, it took an act of God to stop it. <o:p></o:p > One thing is certain Bush is now wondering what is about to happen in Israel and if he has lost his control over the political situation. For while he and Sharon worked hand in hand to set up a terrorist state in Gaza while at the same time telling the world that he cannot allow Iraq to become a terrorist state. Now with Iran getting close to the point of launching nuclear missiles at Israel, possibly Turkey and parts of Europe, Israel finds itself in a struggle for the heart and soul of the nation. With secular and spiritual forces trying to take over, it would seem that the enemies of Israel would perceive this as an opportune time to strike with all their strength. <o:p></o:p > Egypt has discovered in the past 24 hours that the Palestinians are beyond control and have even had their own Egyptian soldiers killed by Palestinian terrorist on the Rafah border crossing. But it’s no secret that Egypt has only one main goal and that is to get their army into the Sinai and as close to Israel as possible to launch the next offensive against Israel. <o:p></o:p > Hizbullah on our northern borders have been armed with a reported 15,000 missiles, and after this last little battle a month ago they discovered they needed a new type of weapon to take out the Israel tanks and they got it, <o:p></o:p > Iran shipped this Russian tank killer in for the next time
<o:p></o:p > With Bashar Assad in deep trouble with the UN and the US he is looking at ways to heat up the Israeli war on the borders with Lebanon. <o:p></o:p > In the mean time the Saudis are pouring the money into Hamas and Islamic Jihad and telling them to start killing Jews that Israel must be destroyed. With unemployment in Gaza running over 50% the only jobs available are Hamas and Islamic Jihad. So for many it is not a matter of religion but one of economics and if they had another opportunity they might consider it. But that same money that pays the terrorist is also paying for the propaganda in the school systems that from kindergarten to college teaches them that all Jews must be killed. That it is better to die for Allah than to live with the Jews. <o:p></o:p > With Sharon under life support in Hadassah Hospital and Olmert setting in the PM office not only the political situation seems to be in doubt but the survival of the country as well. <o:p></o:p > But we are talking about the Apple of God’s eye, and we Jews made a mess out of everything we have touched in Israel with Jerusalem to become the burdensome stone and cup of trembling God told us it would be. As we move into the coming months many things will happen none of which will we like. <o:p></o:p > The one thing I believe will happen outside of Israel is terrorist attacks and ecological disasters to take the eyes off Jerusalem as the Devil tries to do his dirty work. But those of us who have read God’s Word and ask the Ruach Ha Koddesh (Holy Spirit) to show us the truth know that the real battle to set up Armageddon happens here in Israel. God will gather His people to this place He promised them as an everlasting covenant. For He has touched the hearts of men like myself to prepare to assist as many as we possibly can. God has also touched the hearts of His special elect to assist and many reading this have felt that tug in the spirit to become part of this ministry. <o:p></o:p > I labor under no false misconception for the knowledge of what is about to come is a reality in my heart. The greatest reality is the presence of God and His Spirit for there is no place for fear in His presence and daily we must strive to be in the place God has prepared for us. There is no safer place for one to be than in God presence. I pray for you as you read this that you will be alone with God asking Him to set your priorities in place and give you directions in all things concerning your relationship with Him for time is much shorter than any of us are aware, and even correspondence such as this could be interrupted at any time now. <o:p></o:p > To be sure I’ve made my feeling known in regards to the elections this March 28th. Any vote for any party other than Likud is a vote for disaster, for as it stands right now Netanyahu is the only possible candidate for Prime Minister who may be able to lead this country out of this mess. And in case it hasn’t hit home to some reading this yet, when Israel goes so goes the world, for as far as God is concerned Jerusalem is the center of the world. <o:p></o:p > Pray for the peace of Jerusalem for our son Joel, for all the IDF soldiers. Pray for all those who have come to fight the Islamic enemy. Pray for this Ministry and your part in it. Shalom, jerry golden |
ISRAEL
In addition, the GSS reported that an estimated five tons of explosives have made their way into Gaza since August, as well as 5,000 rifles and handguns, and more than a million bullets. The GSS report states that the PA, which holds jurisdiction over Gaza since the Israeli withdrawal, is doing nothing to halt the flow of weapons into terrorist hands. Therefore, the report concludes, the border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip has become an easy, safe passage for the importation of weapons and other supplies for various Arab terrorist groups. In this regard, the GSS sees the abandonment by Israel of the Philadelphi Route, bordering Egypt, as a turning point in the threat Israel faces from Gaza. Security services say the beefed-up arsenal has provided the terrorists with greater capability and incentive to start firing Kassam rockets into central Israel from Judea and Samaria, as well. While noting an increase in certain types of terrorist attacks in 2005, the GSS report notes a decrease in the overall number of victims of such attacks. During the year just concluded, there were 2,990 terrorist attacks of all types against Israeli targets, with an increase in rocket attacks (377) over 2004 (309). There were 45 Israelis murdered by terrorists in 2005, down from 117 in 2004. Of those killed, half were victims of seven suicide bombings carried out over the last year, four of which took place subsequent to Israel's unilateral withdrawal from Gaza and northern Samaria. The GSS report clarifies that the drop in the number of victims is primarily the result of Israeli measures preventing, disrupting or intercepting terrorist organizations attempting to carry out attacks. The report further specifies that during 2005, the GSS arrested 160 suicide bombers in Judea and Samaria. Despite declarations of "calm" by terrorist organizations during 2005, the GSS reported that the number of security alerts remained fairly consistent all year. In fact, there was an increase in attacks in the Judea area during the terrorist-declared "calm" as compared to an equivalent period before the declaration. Only in the Gaza region was there a significant decrease in enemy attacks during the period of "calm", but still representing 1,205 attacks (as opposed to 2,637 attacks during an equivalent period beforehand).
However, Israeli officials have informed the Americans that current anarchy in the PA makes it impossible to maintain Israeli security requirements for implementing the cross-Israel passage for PA residents. According to a senior government official, the US and European officials have shown understanding of Israel's position. American negotiators have not raised the matter of the "safe passage" in the past week, in contrast with the persistence with which they pressured Israel previously. The European Union has also lowered its pressure on Israel, particularly since the European observers at the Rafiach crossing on the Egypt-Gaza border were forced to flee in the wake of PA rioting and internal clashes. On Thursday, a delegation of senior envoys from the United States is due to arrive in Israel for meetings with Israeli and PA officials. The American delegation, headed by US Undersecretary of State C. David Welch and Deputy National Security Advisor Elliot Abrams, will raise the issue of the "safe passage", but no ultimatum is expected. At the top of the delegation's agenda will be the expected victory of the Islamist Hamas movement in PA elections scheduled for later this month, as well as the possibility that the elections may be postponed. Members of the ruling Fatah organization have recently threatened to withdraw their names from the ballot, which would force a postponement; whereas, PA leader Mahmoud Abbas ("Abu Mazen") has declared that the elections will go ahead on schedule. Abu Mazen himself, however, has indicated that he may not contest future PA leadership elections.
Among other issues determining the timing of the planned Likud resignations is the upcoming hospitalization of the prime minister for a heart catheterization procedure on Thursday. Ministers pushing for delaying their resignations contend that resigning before Sharon's hospitalization would be perceived by the public as a move lacking in national responsibility. Those in favor of resigning before Sharon's hospitalization claim that the longer the party remains in the government, the more harm is done to the party's electoral prospects. Commenting on the make-up of the existing government coalition ahead of the meeting with Netanyahu, Education Minister Livnat said that government ministers who broke away from the Likud to form the Kadima party are the ones who have no right to their position. "They are sitting on a Likud mandate," said Livnat, "because Likud voters chose them to sit in the government."
Over night Sunday, the IDF carried out an aerial attack against a structure in the southern Gaza Strip used by terrorists of the Fatah-affiliated Al-Aksa Martyrs Brigade. IDF spokesmen said the attack was in retaliation for recent Arab terror activity, including the firing of rockets from the Gaza Strip at Israeli communities. Sunday’s Kassam strikes calls into question the effectiveness of the IDF’s operation in northern Gaza, code named, “Blue Skies.” Many of the Kassem rockets, especially those fired on the Ashkelon industrial zone, were launched from the former Jewish communities of Dugit, Elei Sinai, and Nisanit. The IDF has warned the Palestinian Authority that any unauthorized Arab present in those areas would be hit by the IDF. PA police are exempt from the ban, although Israel has warned the PA security forces against assisting the terrorists. The IDF’s strategy has been to effectively create a buffer zone in the areas that were thriving Jewish communities prior to the disengagement last August. That strategy was put into practice Saturday night. IDF troops spotted three terrorists near the former community of Elei Sinai as they were attempting to launch a Kassam into Israel. Two of the three terrorists were killed and one was wounded by a missile fired by the Israeli Air Force. The PA, in an unusual act of candor, admitted that the Arabs killed were in fact terrorists from the Al Aksa Bridages, the military arm of the Fatah, the political party of PA chief Mahmoud Abbas. The IDF has warned the PA that the “Blue Skies” operation could be expanded to include large swaths of territory bordering Israel, if the PA does not act to stop the rockets. Sources in the IDF said that certain foreign governments have been pressuring Israel to halt the operation, claiming that it limits PA control over territory ceded to it by Israel under the disengagement plan. Those sources emphasized that at present, there are no plans to stop the operation. Sderot residents, however, have complained to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, that operation “Blue Skies” in northern Gaza has no effectiveness in preventing Kassam rockets from being fired from other sites in Gaza into areas of the western Negev. “Are the children of Sderot worth less than those of Ashkelon?” asked Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal. “We live in one country, and if an operation is to be carried out to prevent the firing of Kassem rockets is different for Sderot than for Ashkelon…this is very serious.” Moyal said that what appeared to be discrimination between the two cities, “should not happen in a democratic country.” Moyal said the residents of Sderot were “very angry” at the government. “We’re very happy the prime minister is defending the residents of Ashkelon. But we want them to do the same thing when rockets are fired at Sderot,” he said. “And if not, let them explain why they discriminate between the lives of Ashkelon’s children and the lives of those in Sderot.”
Rabbi Sacks did not blame Israel for the threat to European Jewry. He pointed out that many regional conflicts ignited by Islamic radicals in Chechnya, the Philippines, and Indonesia, would be occurring, even if Israel did not exist. He said that globalization was leading many people to view Israel as the cause of the world’s conflicts. He accused Islamic radicals of using Israel’s alleged mistreatment of Arabs to support their campaigns of violence around the world. Rabbi Sacks blamed satellite television and the Internet for exposing Britain to a globalized anti-Semitism. But anti-Semitism was also rearing its head on prime-time TV and best-selling books that deny the Holocaust, he warned. While the situation for Jews in Britain was good overall, Rabbi Sacks said that anti-Jewish activities were rising throughout Europe, especially in France. “A number of rabbinical colleagues throughout Europe have been assaulted and attacked on the streets,” he said. "We've had synagogues desecrated. We've had Jewish schools burn to the ground - not here but in France." The Community Services Trust, a UK based group that monitors anti-Semitic incidents says there has been a dramatic rise in anti-Semitic incidents over the past year. The trust recorded 532 anti-Semitic incidents in 2004, 83 of which were physical assaults.
Statistics show that terrorism actually has increased and has not decreased. Suicide bombers struck six times in 2005, twice before the expulsion of Jewish residents from the Gaza and northern Samarian regions and four times afterwards. In February, a suicide bomber killed five Israelis in an attack on the The Stage nightclub in Tel Aviv, shortly after the "calm" was announced at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit. In July, a suicide bomber killed five Israelis and injured 30 others at a Netanya mall, the first of two attacks there. On August 28, shortly after the expulsion, a terrorist blew himself up and wounded 20 people in an attack at the Be'er Sheva bus station. In December, suicide bombers struck twice, once at the Netanya mall where five were killed, and again on Thursday when an IDF officer and two Arab bystanders were murdered. The number of rockets and mortar shells on Israeli targets has sharply increased since the expulsion, with 130 attacks from January through July, the eve of the expulsion, and 179 since then. A decline in the shelling and rocket attacks can be claimed only if taking into consideration the hundreds of strikes by Arab terrorists against the Jewish communities in Gush Katif and northern Gaza before the expulsion. However, there have been numerous misfirings which have resulted in countless rocket explosions in the areas of the destroyed Jewish communities. The IDF Chief of Staff also said in the interview that he does not expect the IDF to stop the Kassam rocket attacks entirely, but only to reduce them to a low level.
Judge Carla Raginiano decided to completely acquit Binyamin of any involvement in the attack, which allegedly took place three years ago. Raginiano said that the police failed to demonstrate any connection between Binyamin and the alleged attack. His case is but the latest in a series of high-profile accusations that local Jews cut down Arab trees, followed by low-profile acquittals and debunking of such claims by tree-experts and judges. Binyamin, a 20-year-old resident of the northern Shomron town of Yitzhar, was arrested after left-wing activists, led by Rabbi Arik Ascherman of Rabbis for Human Rights and the radical Ta’ayush group, claimed they had rocks thrown at them by Jews from Yitzhar as they helped local Arabs harvest olives nearby. Ta’ayush activist Or Gurlitz claimed that Binyamin threw stones at him and stole his knapsack. Binyamin was arrested and imprisoned for several days in the Ariel police station, during which time he says police investigators hit him while he was tied. He was released only after signing a restraining order banning him from setting foot in Judea or Samaria for six months and posting 4,500 shekels bail. During the course of the trial, at the Kfar Saba Magistrate’s Court, an IDF reserves company commander was called to the witness stand by the prosecution in order to testify against Binyamin. He refused to do so, to the prosecution’s consternation, instead telling the court that the left-wing activists had lied in their police complaint. Binyamin’s lawyer, Ofer Ashkenazi revealed irregularities in the police handling of the case. Police refused to put together a line-up for local Arabs to be able pick out who supposedly attacked them. Ashkenazi alleged that police knew Binyamin, and assumed his guilt from the outset. Binyamin’s lawyer also demonstrated during the trial that the left-wing activists had given four different testimonies regarding the identity of the attacker. Another key witness, left-wing activist and Beit Berl professor Yaakov Manor, was found to have given contradictory testimony. Binyamin told Arutz-7 that he is considering suing the police for their superficial and faulty investigation of the case, as well as for his false imprisonment and alleged abuse while under police custody. Ta’yush’s Gurlitz, a resident of Ramat Gan, told Arutz-7 that he is “very sorry to hear about the acquittal.” He said he is still convinced that Binyamin was the attacker and that the verdict is “part of the forgiving attitude of the judicial system toward the attacks of the settlers.” Meanwhile, police forensics units have once again entered Samaria’s olive groves to determine whether olive trees have been cut down by local Jewish residents, as alleged by left-wing groups and the international media, or by villagers seeking compensation. A local Arab from the village of Burin told Israel’s Channel 10 that he saw groups of settlers from an outlying neighborhood near Elon Moreh cut down the olive trees that border the community. Defense Minister Sha’ul Mofaz announced the launching of a special investigation into the cutting of the olive trees, saying the perpetrators would be found and brought to justice. Police investigators last year found hundreds of trees that had allegedly been cut by Jewish residents to have actually been pruned by their owners. The investigators now say there is a possibility the Arab villagers caused the damage themselves, in order to receive compensations from the government. “Something is clearly suspicious in the way these trees were cut,” Police Superintendent Shlomi Sagi told Army Radio. He said that it would be strange for Jewish residents to start cutting the trees on the side closest to the Arab village and merely cut off branches, when they could have cut the trunks with the chainsaws apparently used. MK Avshalom Vilan (Meretz-Yahad) called the tree-cuttings an act of terror and demanded the IDF clamp a closure on Judea and Samaria until the perpetrators are apprehended. “Had it been Arabs who cut down the trees, security forces would have acted a long time ago," he said. Jewish farmers in Gush Etzion and Samaria say, however, that they have had hundreds of fruit trees uprooted and acres of wheat burned by local Arabs, but police, to date, have never carried out serious investigations into the vandalism.

Bethlehem
| Midnight SOS for Bethlehem | 25 December 2005 | ||||
The Archbishop of Westminster has pleaded in his Christmas homily for the town of Bethlehem, saying he deplores the exodus of Christians from Bethlehem and the current condition of the town of Christ's birth. He said Bethlehem was "corralled" and "blocked in" and its economy in shreds as a result of Israeli security measures in response to terrorist violence. Speaking at his Midnight Mass homily at Westminster Cathedral just hours before leaving for Sri Lanka, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor described the people of the town as "terribly alone", and urged Christians to visit. He prayed that "the eyes and the hearts of the world be opened to what is happening there" and pleaded for a new strategy for peace. He said the Holy Land conflict had inflicted "a terrible wound on humanity" and urged the parties to the conflict to "bind that wound" and "build bridges, not walls". Then he said: "Let Bethlehem be what it is meant to be: a free and open city." Reflecting on the Incarnation, the Cardinal said allowing the Nativity to take root in people's lives "is about becoming more deeply who we are". The 7 July bombers "did not know, or care, whom they killed", he said. But "from terror which sought to exterminate a faceless crowd, there arose people with names and stories". In their spirit of courage and compassion, he said, "is written the defeat of violence".

Yet the United States Government has the nerve to tell Israel what it must, and must not do, for her own survival or in the name of some phony "
